I'm thankful I don't run into people like you IRL.
This is why I want the hordes of immigrants to keep coming. Maybe it will teach these white bread ****s to be more down to earth. There are too many smug people in this state for its own damn good and needs desperately to be knocked down to earth. Everyone in their yachts, high rise apartments, even the AVERAGE citizens think they are above other people.. its so sickening what this place has become and no, its not exclusive to L.A.. its all over the state. And its like I said before to someone, not everywhere in CA literally has moviestars, but it feels like it at times because everyone sure tries to act, even 8 hrs from The big H. This is why CA gets the image of actors everywhere... even more. You heard it here first.

Apparently you are not aware that only 7% of American consumed rice comes from imports, from a variety of countries. Over 90% of rice eaten in America is grown in America. Almost all rice used in sushi in America comes from California. So, yeah, the Chinese can keep their rice. Btw: China is both the world's largest grower and IMPORTER of rice.

As for Chinese food in general, depends on whether you refer to that style of cooking - or actual foods imported from China. Chinese style food is great made from many domestic foods. Food imports from China are well known to be poorly inspected and regulated. So, yeah, they can keep all that crepe at home. Along with pretty much every other damn piece of crap they export here.

Flying and shipping foods around the world is extremely wasteful and unhealthy. Eat fresh and local as much as possible. Free trade isn't free of consequences.

Golf courses? Golf courses are just places for men to play with their balls. I have no use for organized sports.
OK,I did not know that about the rice and Chinese food[which I don't care for by the way,but know soooo many people who are crazy over it,including my full German dad!],so I agree with you China can keep every bit of toxic crap they send here, and why the hell do we allow their crap into the US to poison us,our kids[toys] and our pets, anyway?

As far as the golf courses, never, ever heard that they are watered by recycled water, and sorry but not sure that I believe that.Such systems to recirculate the water on the courses sound more expensive than a desalination plant would cost!

Really, it's true. They do use "gray" water on golf courses. The water doesn't have to go through the same treatment as potable water to consumers. They also use special grass seeds that are drought tolerant. The golf industry has put a lot of money towards developing ways to improve courses all across the country.

I'm sure there are quite a few sources for the information but here's one that I think you'll find interesting. Pretty good information.

My chief complaint about the state is that there are too many people and our resources are strained beyond capacity. That said, how would they determine who has to leave? I see plenty of involvement by the ACLU if this stupid idea ever reaches fruition.

I volunteer to be "the Decider". Somebody's got to do it. Might as well be somebody really really smart - like me.

For starters: whiners first. Immediately following: all developers, and those favoring further growth.

My relatives life right above a golf course, and they were given disclosure. It's standard since they use so much but actually refreshs the water table. Their backyard overlooks one of the Tees and they very very occasionally find a ball in their yard.

The waste water is the stuff they release in other ways to be reabsorbed since it removes the extra minerals and traces of stuff you don't want in your drinking water. Even with a desalinazation plant or two you still have to finish the cleaning cycle for this water.

My only question on these plants would be Huntington Beach. I lived there for fifteen years next to the edison plant. Behind it was this big cauldron we were told was for waste water, which was a lie. It was called the 'mud dump' and stuff had been dumped there since they first farmed the area. It was also the number 2 most toxic site on the EPA list, undisturbed since it was safer left that way than cleaned or sealed the wrong way. Before I moved, they tested the water table and its toxins hadn't escaped so they filled it with sand, then a lot of dirt was heaped on it, and they planted trees and grass. It was unfenced and you could walk there.

A friend who still lived there said a few years after I moved they double fenced the area since the toxins were moving upward and the mound was toxic. They ended up hauling everything, sand, soil, grass, trees, dumped stuff and the container itself away somewhere in sealed containers. Then they dug out a big hole where it had been leaking. And apparently it *had* by then reached the water table. It's got dirt and grass on it now but the whole area is fenced.

This is in addition to the toxins left by the power plant. The area was and still is a cluster point for cancers and auto immune disease. The condition I still am troubled with came on months after we moved there. But there was no discolsure.

I would assume that piping and such would have to run inland and since that area is the one that isn't public beach, I assume the temptation would be to put them there. But I wouldn't want to drink water that was anywhere near the still toxic area.

Then where would your kids live when its time for them to move out?

And kids of all the other "natives" that get to stay?
