Okay, I live in Nevada and also have a home in the Sierra foothills east of Sacramento, so I've been following this thread with some interest. It's been very entertaining. I'll leave it at that.

But I would like to drop some statistics into here based on a story in the New York Times. According to their story, the illegal aliens or undocumented immigrants, take your pick, in 2015 were of the following nationalities:

7,725,000 from Mexico (6.2 million) and other Central American countries
268,000 from China
267,000 from India
198,000 from Korea

and an additional 2.1 million from other countries.

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...mmigrants.html

Clearly, the vast majority of IA/UI are from hispanic countries, but almost a quarter are from other parts of the world. One could extrapolate that due to a "land bridge" with Central America is it much easier to immigrate to the US and if a "land bridge" from Asia still existed (the actual first immigrants to North America during the Ice Age), the numbers from that part of the world would be higher.

Why would anyone want to split up the 5th largest economy in the world with a GDP of 18.57 trillion? This reminds of of the tens of thousands of signatures either by misinformed American's or fake signatures, or both to give Alaska back to Russia.

Sometimes I'm just embarrassed for the stupidity in this country.

+1 for the Russian trolls.

My argument is that we should have compassion and an inclusive attitude towards everyone, so logic would dictate that hatred is nowhere near my point of view.

If your best argument is that you pity me, well then, I pity you.

So you're saying is that all Hispanics in California are illegal. Got it. Who's the racist now?

Your posts are race baiting and there's no logic in anything you say.

Nice try.

You said you didn't want illegals in your state. The stats show that that would mean Hispanics. So, deductive reasoning would indicate that you don't want Hispanics in your new state.

Trying to say that you only care about the legality of people - anyone - who is not here legally, is like the old argument that the south only cared about states' rights and that the civil war wasn't about slavery.

You can't separate the two. No matter how much you want to convince yourself that it's not about race, it's all about race.

What?

How does not wanting illegal aliens in your state automatically equate to not wanting people of Hispanic origin in your state?

I personally do not want open borders, but have no problem with Hispanic people. My wife and children are partially Hispanic (Ecuador) for crying out loud.

This is the problem with the whole debate on illegal immigration, especially from the MSM talking heads, they rarely present honest discourse and usually devolve into demagoguery.

Hispanic people, and pretty much every other nationality/race/ethinicity are deeply intertwined into society. There's absolutely zero way one could separate Hispanic out the equation. Besides, the laws do not allow anyone to discriminate against this. If you were a working person you would know this. Illegal immigrants come from every corner of the earth, the only common denominator is the illegal part. Your argument is false and fear mongering.

Anyway,
Although the state will never be split, it does send a message that people are tired of the direction we're going.

You’re making sense. Unfortunately that poster’s thinking is so warped and racist that you can’t reason with her. She has no real argument so she pulls the race card. People like that are pathetic.

She is just a typical liberal like the ones in Sacramento that are destroying our state. Their arguments have no merit so they revert to playing the racist card.

Because 99.9999999% of illegal aliens in CA are hispanic.

Saying it's only about someone being illegal, and not about race is equal to saying the civil war was about state's rights and not about slavery.

You're only fooling yourself and buying into the nationalist movement, which is exactly what happened with Hitler. It was sneaky, and slow and steady, and people started losing logic and reason and blaming a particular race for their problems.

Don't be manipulated.

The laws now don't allow for discrimination. But, if you get your separate state in CA, where no illegals are allowed, it will be legal discrimination against Hispanics.

Your argument is ignorant to history. As I said before, the civil war was promoted by southern interests as being about state's rights, and not about slavery. But, the right they were defending - was to be allowed to keep slaves.

This argument that people want a separate state because they don't want illegals, is the same thing. It's discriminatory against a particular race, no matter what they try and convince themselves and others.

If the result is less hispanics allowed, because the vast majority of illegal aliens are hispanic in CA, then it's all about discrimination. No matter how people try to fool themselves or others.
