Apparently out-of-staters want us to stay put.

A report from the state Legislative Analyst’s Office earlier this year confirmed the obvious: People are leaving California. Between 2007 and 2016, we lost 6 million residents to domestic migration. Our population still grew overall, gracias to out-of-staters moving in and our ever-impressive (though declining) birthrate. But the fact remains that many people don’t think staying in California is worth the hassle anymore.

Hey California quitters, your future neighbors wish you would stay home

Lol exactly

Texas is a crap hole with no good paying jobs. It’s just blue collar employment that the media keeps trying to push as a corporate epicenter. Then people move there and see the reality. I lived in Texas years ago before the exodus. I would never move there without a job transferring me there with the option of coming back to California

We have two related couples that retired and moved or are moving here to WA state, both have good pensions and could afford to stay. The lack of state income tax is a significant enticement, but other factors include cooler weather, and being closer to other family. If people avoid the greater Seattle area, paying cash for a home with equity from the sale in CA is still possible.

Not in my area, most I see at In-N-Out are a mix of white, latino and african-american teenagers, same goes for Chik-Fil-A, stop in a El Pollo Loco it's mostly Latino.

Retirement is still a long way away for me, but I have no plans to leave the state either when it comes time.

The people I know who end up leaving the state are usually those who made some pretty heinous financial decisions at some point, and it effected them to the degree where leaving the state was the most logical option. More of a punishment for them, if you will, but they acted like it was better to flip us off on the way out.

These are people who took out second mortgages to buy shiny, new sports cars when they had a perfectly good car in the driveway. Or, they had to shop at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus or Bloomingdales...just because

I consider the fact that I live in California to be good enough. I live in a well-kept but modest house in a neighborhood on the border of working-class Van Nuys and North Hollywood, so it's not as haughty-taughty as people might assume. I drive an older Subaru in good condition, I shop at Target, I use an older model iPhone, I carry a modest purse, I wear nice clothes that aren't pricey. A "treat" for me is a gift card to a local boutique. I don't spend a lot. I do a lot of day/weekend trips within California and maybe a big out-of-state trip once every three years. Nothing major or longer than a week.

I hate the "Keep Up with the Jones" mentality that ends up strangling so many people into a life of miserable debt. Then when they leave California, they go to these awful right-wing states without any sort of safety net, and end up paying through the nose for health coverage.

Again, though, their choices!

Just curious which "awful right wing states" ?

Doubt you have been to any of those states to see for yourself or have any real knowledge of how much people are paying for their health insurance there.
