Bottom line is that California has a better climate than the other 85% of the US or Europe. After living in San Diego and Fullerton I find our weather in Paradise as poor, but compared to Budapest, Munich, New Orleans, Chicago, Kansas City ( name any city ) our climate is still wonderful. If California had a climate like the Dakotas with the politics of our current administration, not too many would plan to move here, or visit.

I agree with you, mgforshort. I don't need to be by the beach but I also don't want to shovel snow. I'll take the bit of rain and occasional fog during winter but the warmth of summer and dry climate is good for these old bones.

California has the most votes in this poll from the General U.S. forum: "Which state(s) would you like to live in" https://www.city-data.com/forum/gene...like-live.html

A poll from ten years ago? Maybe there should be a new poll started. I think a lot of things have changed since then.

And despite the 'dreaming' figure, Florida is the place more actual people are landing.

It's also worth noting that LA ranks almost equally with Atlanta and Austin as the places people would go if 'money wasn't an obstacle', with Vegas and Miami barely trailing behind those destinations. This proves most people in the U.S. have terrible taste in cities.

Oh no!

343,230/39,000,000 = .88%...........Whatever will the state do?!

That has absolutely nothing to do with where people would live if they could. The second part of your statement is the only valid part of your comment.

I'm so sorry the information from the OP's link bothers you.
(pssst.... I never said that the decline in population was indicative of chaos -- that's your spin)

OP's link doesn't bother me at all.

What you did imply was he missed a meaningless stat as .88% is nothing more than a rounding error for most people (clearly there was no need to include it since there's no context to it....sorry this confuses you).

I thought you were about people pulling themselves up by their bootstraps? Prop 13 is a handout because it is subsidized and dependent upon new home owners paying a lot more in taxes. It would be fine if property taxes were low for all.
