i know the whole question is meant for theoretical fun and california pride, but the issue of secession has already been dealt with outside of this forum as part of the american civil war. furthermore, scotus decided in texas v. white that secession is impossible ( FindLaw | Cases and Codes ).

California will survive and prosper if it didn't have to carry the baggage of the rest of the US. Yes, secession will be good for California.

To all you out there do you think that northern California wants to be part of southern California I've heard talk about it before so that would leave just so cal on its own 65%of southern California is on some kind of welfare that means 45% would have to carry the financial responsibility to keep these programs afloat and forget about all those crops and the water because it now belongs to northern cal and while so cal is getting their head out of their a.....
northern cal will be done building the wall to so cal out so I guess you are no longer so cal any more you are just Mexico Will I bet the US is getting alone without you just fine

Or if we got more of our tax dollars back instead of sending them to welfare bums in Alaska, West Virginia, and the Deep South.
Wow are you behind the times. In fact, only 12% of Americans live in California, but 34% of all Welfare Recipients live in California.

California has the highest poverty rate in the entire country, with almost 1/4th of all people in California living in poverty. Far higher than in Alaska, West Virginia and the deep south.

If California could leave the US, we would have illegal aliens pouring in from the east as well as the south.

Without a EU type agreement for trade and movement of people California would suffer an pretty terrible economic collapse. Even with those things there would most likely be a bad downturn.
