Hello,

I was wondering if someone with knowledge of the Fresno area could help me out with some info on a couple apartment complexes. I've looked through some of the threads and didn't find much on any of these specifically, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

The first few are the ones in my price range, but I'm not sure how good their neighborhoods or reputations are...

Oasis Apartments - Clovis (2127 N Peach)
Sunburst Apartments - Fresno (4294 N Hughes)
Village at Ninth - Fresno (5158 N 9th)
Valley View Apartments - Fresno (3855 N Peach)
Renaissance Apartments - Fresno (5669 N Fresno)

These next few are a little above what I want to pay, but if the ones I previously listed are no good, then info on these would be welcomed.

Woodlands - Fresno (3555 W Bullard)
Summer Place - Fresno (445 W Nees)
Heron Pointe - Fresno (5200 N Valentine)
Terrace View - Fresno (344 W Nees)

The main thing I'm concerned about is being someplace safe and secure (a decent neighborhood, won't have to worry about car/apartment being broken into). I'm moving from CT next fall for school and won't have a chance to get out there before I move in, so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The best 2 of these would be Summer Place and Terrace View. Have you also looked at Windscape? It's in the same area. It's a safe part of time and close to lots of amenities and fun at River Park.

After that, the next best 2 are Heron Pointe and Woodlands. Pretty safe part of town, not really close to fun stuff, but close to shops and necessities.. Are you going to Fresno State? They're quite a ways from campus.

After these top 4, the rest are pretty much equal. I'd put Renaissance and Valley View a bit above the rest. The Village at 9th is very close to Fresno State and to Bulldog stadium, which can make it a noisy/busy place to live.

An important question might also be which school will you attending. Fresno State? Fresno Pacific? The California School of Professional Psychology/Alliant? Or something else? Each of the higher ed campuses is scattered in a different part of the city.

Adriatica gave you some good advice but we might be able to pin things down even more.

Yes I am going to Fresno State, but the distance isn't too much of a concern for me (I may only have to be on campus 3 times a week). The problem with the top 4 is they are all about $100 a month more expensive. Renaissance and Village at Ninth I'm hesitant on because the group that owns them has some properties that got really poor reviews from previous tenants.

Oasis is the most appealing to me but is also the place I can find the least amount of information on. What I'm afraid will happen is I'll go for one of the less expensive apartments and end up really regretting it, so the real task for me is to try and dig up valid reviews on some of these places to see whether or not they are worth living in.

Thank you for the insight and I will give Windscape a look.

I don't know the type of housing you are looking for but I thought of a few others.

UCSF has medical students that do rotations in Fresno. They use Riverview Garden Apts on Poplar Avenue for their students. (That is the RiverPark/Nees area near Terrace View, Summer Place, etc.)
Welcome to R&B Properties

There are also 3 newer apartment complexes catering to Fresno State students that opened in the last few years (another is under construction).

If you haven't already, take a look at these. Some have amenities like shuttle buses to the campus and roommate locator services. I don't know pricing though.

Thanks for the links, Riverview is another one I was looking at that falls into the slightly more expensive than I want to pay category. I have come across the other 3 on message boards and reviews and the general consensus seems to be to stay away from them.

I'm basically looking to not spend more than $650 a month (with as many utilities included as I can get) and the first five complexes I listed seem to be the best I can find for that price. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get that much information on them from actual tenants, so I thought I'd check on here to see if anyone knew anything about them.

Thanks for the help.
