Default Job related move, either Santa Clara or Huntington beach?

My Husband works in the hotel industry, he has an option of either working in Santa Clara or Huntington beach. We have two young children so schools and safe family friendly neighborhoods a plus. We love the warmer climate coming from Wa. state. Cost wise what is the most affordable? Also working in these cities doesn't neccassarily mean living in them. Are there cities on the outskirts that offer what were looking for close enough to handle the commute? Thank you in advance!

Both are very expensive areas that are part of huge sprawling cities. There's no such thing as living on the outskirts and commuting into Huntington Beach unless you want to drive 100 miles. Post in the San Jose forum for more details on Santa Clara or the Orange County forum for Huntington Beach.

I think EscapeCalifornia is right, you need to post on a couple other boards as well. If you are prepared for the prices I would opt for the Huntington Beach area. They do have good schools and safe neighborhoods. this is not saying Santa Clara does not. If you lean toward liberal views Santa Clara would probably be to your liking.

Oh, I just saw your salary range, it is going to be a little tough in either area to be truthful.
