And we have noticed she isn't really growing much..we are figuring since she was taken away from her mom so early, probably didn't get the nutrition a kitten needs and was possibly the runt she probably will be a little kitty.. She weighs 4.7lbs from her last visit. But still very full of energy..

As you can see she loves boxes..lol
She sounds very much like JJ. He came to me with severe herpes and was about a third of the weight he should have been. He's grown into a hefty cat at eleven pounds (and all of it muscle), but his front legs are curved and his skull and lower jaw are deformed because of the starvation.

JJ actually can't take l-lysine- for some reason it makes him vomit. He also have asthma, allergies, and a very weak immune system. When he was young he would run fevers and obviously feel crappy for no obvious reason.

If your girl has asthma, it won't just go away. Like herpes, asthma is for life. Now, it may get better, even to the point where you forget she has it, but she would still be as asthmatic cat. JJ gets an inhaler twice a day and anti-histamines during the spring and summer. He can go eight months or longer without an asthma attack, but he still stays on his inhaler. Even mild asthma causes damage to the lungs.

I really think at this point you should consider an appointment with a specialist. It sounds like your vet is mostly guessing and leaning on the antibiotics. They might not be the right antibiotics for her particular issue and the mucus in her nose may need to be cultured. For her asthma (if she has it), she should see an internal med. specialist who can get her started on her inhalers and perform diagnostic tests to make sure that's what she has. An x-ray would be a place to start (though a negative x-ray is not proof that she does not have asthma...a x-ray can help rule it in, but not rule it out basically.)

Good luck!

I do agree I do believe the Vets are guessing at what she has.. I do know the virus she had when she came to us was bad..her breathing was horrible, she was way under nourished, constant runny nose, coughing, fever..she almost died on us twice..luckily the Vet isn't far away.
We both really like these doctors but I was thinking of taking her to another Vet just for a second opinion..hadn't really thought about a specialist may look into that.
For now she seems to be fine, although I think she is fixing to go in heat.. but her symptoms aren't the normal weirdness a cat has when in heat she is just extremely lovey dovey..lol..
They want me to wait at least 4 months to bring her back and see how she does over time.. so I'm going to wait and see how she does..

OK Updating about Rosie.... So I had to take Rosie in to the Vet again.. and we decided to have xrays done to see if she has something obstructing her airways.. and the xrays shows nothing in her sinuses but as for her esophagus it is pointing downwards like its being crushed by something instead of at an upward angle like a normal cat. So they are sending off the xrays to see what a specialist thinks and we go from there.. I just hope this isn't something bad! She is still getting steroid shots and antibiotics. This poor baby has been through so much I just hope we can get it resolved soon so she can live a long happy normal kitty live..

Oh dear! I hope so too. I've never heard ofthis, but maybe someone here knows something about that condition. I'll be anxious to hear what the specialist says.

Update on Rosie...
So we finally got the radiology results.. grrr took forever..They said that her chest xrays are normal and do not warrant further xrays. So now we wait for the antibiotics and steroids to wear off and once she starts sounding like she can't breath again then we take her back in this time for a throat swab..he said this will check for 6 different viruses.. IF they all come back negative then next option is to stick a camera up her nose to she if she has a polyps.. I am glad this doctor has taken over he seems to want to help figure out whats going on.. Its really hard to find a VET Dr. you actually like!

I have been looking at pet insurance.. Only issue is does any of them cover preexisting conditions.. Does any have any recommendations? Or do they all have a non-preexisting policies..

Oh gosh. I'm so sorry there is still no diagnosis, but how wonderful that you have a vet who is working with you and determined to help.

I think most pet insurance companies do have pre-existing clauses, but the only way to know for sure is start doing some research and making phone calls I guess.

Just remember that insurance companies are in business for one thing only, and that is to make money. So read all the fine print. At least three times.
