I was on Criagslist one day... and saw this gorgeous black cat that was free to give up for a new home.. for a good "reason" because they have to move to a new place that doesn't allow a pet.... My heart breaks so much once I saw pictures of her. For me... I've spend almost 6 months TRYING to find a place that are a cat-friendly... I refuse move into any place that doesn't allow a cat. I will never give up my two babies who I adore so much. My 7 years old cat, Baby... I raised her since she was only 6 weeks old.. found outside nearly dead... and she doesn't get along with so many people, especially when she's alone.. if shes alone with anyone she knows, she freaks out [happened before when I left somewhere for a bit.] I ended up thinking "even though I know I wont give her up, but if I ever do... she will never be happy again." I don't understand people who gives away their pet just because they're moving, having kids, or getting a new pet... it's ridiculous.

Obviously just keep your cat and don't get a dog! So in 2 more years when they decide to get a rabbit are they going to just give away their dog? I hate how they just want to discard their cat because they want a new animal.. that just disgusts me.
Why don't you go to a phone booth and give them a call. I am serious

Moderator cut: crude language
AND you don' t know if the cat was/is/were indoor-outdoor or have FIV or FeLV You don't know if the cat is de clawed ( a bad choice for people with compromised immune systems or children).

I didn't know we were that known for this issue of dumping cats Are they spreading the news all over Scandinavia? I hope people here change their attitudes towards their kitties very soon! I sometimes wonder who these people are since there are so many abandoned cats. I often wonder if I know some of these people. I hope not!
I am going to go and check the svenska dagbladet and see. I need to brush up on my Swedish anyway. What Norweigan newspaper was it in?

Ugh, I can't look at the ads anymore, it makes me sick how easily people will give up their animals. Out of 100 posts, maybe ONE has a REAL reason. Usually in our area there are lots of 1 or 2 year old cats, guess people get them as kittens, then they grow up and they want to dump them and get a new kitten. Of course NONE of them are spayed or neutered!!!!!! Also when people say " I need to get RID of my dog/cat/hamster/rabbit..." - that says it all.

I hear ya.

I made the mistake of going to the classifieds on here yesterday. A couple were people trying to give away their pets. The others were BYBs that were out there pimping out their pets to make a buck and selling their off spring. Makes me ill beyond compare.

I want my own island. I want to live in ignorance for a while.

my parents got their cats from petco. store said they are bro & sis, but we doubt it, since one is short hair and the other long hair. very good cats, especially the long hair (sylvester). he never scratches furnitures or people, loves tummy rubs, very tolerant of us - e.g. don't mind us roughing him up playfully (pulling/grabbing his tail), takes periodic baths. my parents have 3 large goldfish tanks and the cats stay away from them. in fact, they get spooked every time the fishs splash. weird.
