Won't get into and don't want to start the debate because I'm not against single payer systems outright.. But.. You DID pay for it. You just didn't pay for it when it happened.
.
Better that way than having to pay out thousands in deductibles and coinsurance. My stroke would have cost me a fortune today. Two MRI at $5,000 each, in one day., plus an ambulance ride and time in the ER. And follow-up with a neurologist.

I think we have to ask what makes an MRI scan 5k...
But wow, he had skull fractures and fractures around his eyes too, according to that article. That must have been some fall! It also says he was on clonazepam, which can be used for treating seizures. Could the injuries have resulted from a seizure? But wouldn’t they be able to tell at autopsy if he’d had a recent seizure?

Yeh I am suspicious. That seems like too much damage for a fall. I mean they might not be saying it but they may be looking into criminal activity.
Yes, I was thinking that after getting more info on his injuries i'm even more suspicious than I was before. Who the heck gets fractures around their eyes from falling on the back of their head.

or what makes an ambulance ride 6k.
Anyways.
It's too late for that. With insurance companies and the medical industry in charge now, they can and will charge whatever they want to and obviously the sky is the limit. No one is going to stop them.

The government creates a system that causes prices to be exhorbitant and then people blame insurance companies and think the government is the solution. Medical care doesnt have to be that expensive, you need more competition, less regulation, more transparency. People have no incentive to keep costs down because insurance is paying for it not them. The system is designed to suck.
