This was more shocking to me than most. Obviously, he acted in other things, but come on, "Chandler Bing"? I would say he's up there with the big ones.
Thank you, Mr. Perry, for entertaining us and making us laugh, so much. Hopefully you're at peace now.

Not sure what you mean. As things go, he went the same way, sort of, as Joe Flynn (Captain Binghamton in McHale's Navy) and about the same age or the way that William Holden should have gone. Ie, "Billy Wilder on Holden's death: "If someone had said to me, 'Holden's dead,' I would have assumed that he had been gored by a water buffalo in Kenya, that he had died in a plane crash approaching Hong Kong, that a crazed, jealous woman had shot him, and he drowned in a swimming pool. But to be killed by a bottle of vodka and a night table - what a lousy fade-out of a great guy!"."(from imdb)
We may think that drowning is a horrible way to go......but apparently it is the way of Hollywood Greats.
...how funny he was, how much he was loved as an actor and he was just a regular guy. The fact that he could be so honest in his book probably has and will help hundreds if not thousands that struggle.
I watched Friends during the 10 years and often with my daughter. Now, I find my husband watching the reruns and he is always surprised that I know or remember the episodes.
Very sad to hear of his passing - just when he was really in a good place.
The NY Times reported that he had had heart issues due to the drinking and drugs and was hospitalized back in 2018/2019 for a month. So sad at 54 years old.
He had many surgeries to repair his body after drug and alcohol abuse for many years.. sad though so young.
Apparently he had just played a couple of hours of pickleball and was using the jacuzzi to wind down. He sent his assistant to the store to pick up some items and when he got back found he had drowned...sounds like very likely cardiac arrest.
