I wish Charleston had some of the discount airlines (Spirit/ Allegiant) that Myrtle does. There are a decent amount of direct, cheap flights to Florida, and the North, if you have any interest in that.

Is Southwest no longer considered a discount airline?

Not compared to the round trip to Pittsburgh (for a wedding, not from there) out of Myrtle that I just got for $142 round trip for 2 people and a checked bag on Spirit. Add $89 for a rental car bc we technically fly out of Latrobe and I needed a car anyway.

Southwest is usually more than $200 a piece round trip to most places unless you can travel on odd days

Technically yes, but imo not really. People only see them that way because theyre not American, Delta, and United. Theyre costs have typically appeared in line with the big 3 to me. The lowest price I've paid has actually been through Jet Blue.

Frontier, Allegiant, and Spirit are the real true low low cost airlines where you pay to go from A to B and nothing else.

SW is in the class with Jet Blue, Alaska, Virgin, and Hawaiian, aka not ultra-budget but not owned by the big 3.

I like JetBlue. We drove up and flew Spirit once... never ever again.

The BAR gave final approval to the Foundry development this past week. Running behind schedule but maybe construction will begin soon.

This article was in the P&C before the BAR's meeting.
