Charlotte isnt the greatest in pedestrian friendly or bike friendly but that doesnt deter those who do there is plenty of runners and cyclist in area do. you should search meet up and become friends with those who have similar interest.
Outdoor activities I really think this is where Charlotte shines.
Imo this city has never had much of night life but in my early 30's I really dont care for that scene no but the Queen city holds the crown for Day life.

Yes it is. Crime... when you break it per person it is very similar. The only crime ever committed against me was here in Charlotte (armed robbed); I have lived in quote on quote worst cities i.e. Miami. We have gangs, a revolving door in the criminal system, now the bonnie and clyde thieves, etc. Check out the threads. It isn't as peachy as you think. It part of the reason I chose to live on the SC side.
Yeah Charlotte is a "married" town and Atlanta is a "singles" town, but that doesn't mean Charlotte is devoid of any nightlife or activities for singles. There just isn't as much of it as in Atlanta. That said, the bars uptown are crowded most nights of the week (except mon and tues) and there is plenty of "hanging out after work at happy hour, jazz cafes, spoken word, etc" in Charlotte if you are searching for that. Just not as much as in Atlanta. Charlotte also has plenty of dining options with most major cuisines having a quality representation, and of course all of the major chains are here. Likewise, you'll find plenty of soccer moms, cul-de-sacs, and SUVs in Atlanta if that is the lifestyle you are looking for. Your best bet is to visit yourself and decide which you like better.

Whatever, that's such BS. Every city has crime but Charlotte is by no means just as dangerous as Atlanta or Miami. Look up statistics, read MANY articles such as "the most dangerous cities in America"...
Charlotte's crime is mostly gang on gang, domestic violence, and theft (car break ins and house break in"...house break ins IS scary but its not all that bad...just always be cautious of your surroundings!!!

It isn't mostly gang on gang. It's people trying to be like gangs such as the guy who armed robbed me. Check out the article from yesterday about the guy who armed robbed a female at the rich mall (South Park) in the middle of the day, which is a nice area.
Again... crime stats are skewed due to population. You have to look at the stats that relate by population/person. What are your chances it could happen to you. Here in Charlotte, that stat brings us very close to those cities.
Visit both and then make your decisions - there are fans and detractors, pros and cons, for both places.
hahahahaha! sorry didn't mean to light another fire on ATL vs Charlotte...I really was just seeking advice and information. I've made my decision...thanks for all of the input!
1. "Restaurant Quality"- Definitely ATL.....If you are a 'foodie'...you'll love Atlanta...More choices in general
2. Married town. - If you are into going home straight from work driving little Jonny or Sally to soccer practice everyday...then Charlotte fits the bill.- If you are into hanging out after work at happy hour, jazz cafes, spoken word, etc....then Atlanta is for you.
3. Downtown Charlotte rolls up the sidewalks at 5pm during the week, unlike Atlanta....just plain more going on...
4. Good Shopping...now thats my forte'.....Atlanta wins hands down....That area carries merchandise in department stores, that I can't find here in Charlotte.......Atlanta hands down.
I've been in Uptown Charlotte after 5pm on a Monday evening on a couple of occasions and I still saw a lot of people out and about. Granted, there are a couple of places that still shut down after 5pm, but it isn't completely dead either! Charlotte has a lot ot offer, albeit on a smaller scale, but still enough to keep you occupied! Basically, check out both cities to see which one clicks with you and go from there!
If you're 20-early 30s single person and enjoying going out to party on the weekends I wouldnt suggest moving to Charlotte. I lived there for a few years and it was boring as hell. I know live in Atlanta and am loving the nightlife here.
