I lived near St. Pete for an extended work assignment back in the 80s and used to shop at Publix all the time. Wonder if they still have that tasty fried chicken...

I wonder what they put in the additional 6-8,000 square foot difference from the Indian Land store.

Publix sets plans for 11 Charlotte-area stores - Charlotte Business Journal

I'm surprised the Mint Hill location is supposed to be open by the end of the year. I thought that was supposed to be a whole new shopping center and last I checked construction hasn't even started. Looks like the rest of the ones scheduled to open this year are the one in Cornelius and three of the old Bi-Los.

There is also a building (separate) from Publix with the same architectural design (Ballantyne location). Anyone know what that is? I'm assuming that is not the bank since it doesn't look like there is a space for teller drive thru. Didn't know if the separate building was part of Publix or something else?

Most Publix stores are 49,000-50,000 square feet. So the new Ballyntyne store will indeed be a very large Publix.

Once Publix gets established in Charlotte, then Bi-Lo is a done deal. Their days are numbered. Remaining stores will be closed or sold. And Food Lion will struggle to hang on. Harris Teeter, Walmart, and Publix will dominate. And hopefully HT will remain basically the same under Kroger as supposedly promised.
