Haven't dug up the chocolate chess pie recipe, but one of my cousins sent this Chess Pie recipe to me a few months ago (everyone in my family knows I have a thing about chess pie). She got this recipe from an older lady in her church, who said she had been making it for years.
Now, I haven't made this particular recipe yet . . . but my cousin had and she said it was yummy.
Chess Pie
2 C. sugar
1/2 C. butter (softened)
4 eggs
1 Tablespoon cornmeal
1 Teaspoon Vanilla extract (the real stuff)
1/4 cup evaporated milk
1 Tablespoon white vinegar
Pour into prepared pie shell (I like Pet Ritz Deep Dish Pie Shells - just lay it out in your pie plate and it will look as though you made your crust from scratch, lol)
In large bowl, cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs, cornmeal and evaporated milk, and stir well. When ingredients are well blended, add vinegar and still again.
Pour into unbaked pie shell. Bake @ 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 300 degrees, and bake an additional 35-40 minutes.
