The bungalows are lovely. I wish I was younger and wealthier, I'd fix 'em up in a minute!

Those are all the same area and it is going through some changes for the better right now.

This is one small area of town and is nothing like the rest of the city.

As mentioned in the reviews.....do not stay at the Ascot. You'll wind up with a grimy feeling you can't scrub off for weeks.

You'll get home and get all obsessive-compulsive with a loofa and a deck brush. lol

anyone know of any budget lodgings close to the downtown area that are clean. Can't stay at comfort inn, super 8, travelodge, or days inn due to age restrictions.

I haven't actually seen the hotel, but based on that address, NO NO NO NO NO NO NO!!!!! There are many lovely places in Charlotte, and that ain't one of them. Good luck finding a hotel that will take you. You must be very young
I remember at 19 being real pissed off because no one would rent a moving truck to me. People under the age of 21 don't move??

ETA: Do the extended stay type places have those kind of age restrictions? You don't have to have an extended stay, but I wonder if they would take someone under 21.

some of them do, but they can charge upwards of 100 per night. I am looking for something 70 or less. I know, not gonna get much with that. I usually go Hyatt or Westin, but those are very expensive and I don't have a lot of money to come out with and see Charlotte. and like you were, I will be 19 in January so I understand that frustration.

Will you be driving? Do you have to be in uptown if not I would suggest Microtel Inn they are all enclosed rooms and I have yet to stay at one I wasnt satified at . Rates on average around $49

I think there sugar creek location is closest uptown but Im not familiar with the location or that one particular. All rest of them are just in industrial by the highway locations.

If you do go with them they usually have free wifi and nice window seat but micro pillows (I pack for this) which is fine for one person but not so good for two. I always travel with a wrench and a old showerhead due to I cant stand the federal regulated showerheads.

Do you not have such things as Bed and Breakfasts over there?

The Ascott Inn is right next to the Uptown Cabaret ( an "upscale" strip club) and advertises heart-shaped jacuzzi's, so that should tell you something. Lodgin in uptown itself is expensive, but I would try www.hotwire.com www.farechase.yahoo.com (broken link) and www.tripadvisor.com

Daniel___T,

Yes, all homes look like the ones you posted. These are the homes where the banking executives and other mult-millionaires live. Typically, a city that is in the top 10 for Forbes top companies live in these type of homes. Everyone else lives in cardboard boxes. By the way, does everyone live in adobe huts in Tucson?
