Power in Fort Mill went out twice overnight...hopefully it will stay on now.
I hope so, too. I am watching temps right now. Hoping ice doesn't form on power lines and tree branches. Weather channel says 34 d. for CLT. So far, so good.
I was very shocked this morning when Union Co went to school (normally we get called off if there is snow in the forecast). I was up about 4:30am and our entire yard was covered in white. I almost turned the alarm off! My dd was completely CRUSHED when we told her she had a 2 hr delay. I felt bad for her. I remember how great it was to have snow days! Poor kids, of course I don't remember getting any hurricane days in Maine (I had 3 or 4 of those in college).
The news said Monroe only got an inch. I think we had at least 2-3. Roads were fine by 9:00. Guess someone in UCPS got smart this year.

Well, thats true. The make-up would have been this coming Tuesday. I would rather have the 4 day weekend.

Even with 4 people in my house, bread and milk can last a couple of days. The average ice or snow in Charlotte comes down, covers the roads, and melts in a couple of hours when the temperature goes up. So maybe the ice and snow will last 2 days.

You do not sound like you have been here long enough to have experienced one of our legandary ice storms. It's not the threat of snow that sends everyone scrambling to the store - it's the ice that may potentially come with it. Many of us have been housebound for up to 7 days in our ice storms here. When we have one of these, the stores don't open for days because employees can't get to work either, so forgot trying to walk to your nearest store. We have learned the hard way to be prepared, just in case

How does a snowblower work?
On T.V. it looks like a ground tiller that some how spits snow off to the side.
Does it have a vaccum and what is with those blade looking things?
Is it louder than a power washer?
Do you shovel a spot to put it down in and does it chop up your yard?
