Dined at La Paz on South Blvd tonight, and it was their last night. They will open in four months on Kings Drive by Target, just in time for Cinco De Mayo.

I remember their king crab enchiladas 20+ years ago, when I first started earning enough money to impress dates by going there.

The luxury sector is doing quite well right now in retail. Neiman's, Nordstrom, Tiffany, etc. For the specialty stores, a lot of their growth is being fueled overseas in developing markets like China...but for the department stores, it is domestic growth. The luxury consumer is feeling much better these days. The job situation has stablized, bonuses are back, etc. Was at Hendrick Lexus the other day, and they are doing a booming business - and expect more to come when BofA and co pay their bonuses next month.

The 'wealth redistribution' that is going on in this country is from the middle class to the very wealthy. The gap between the top percentiles and everyone is is at an all-time high and growing.

All that can be said issss........
Once Upon A Time.....................And They Lived Happily Ever After!!!
(while the unemployed wondered where all the jobs were.....when they would be able to get "a bonus" if they were fortunate enough to have a job, and when they would ever be able to "at least dream" about being able to afford the luxury of putting their foot into a high end store...instead of only being able to afford the bare essentials of life!)
Is there such a disease called "Head in the Sand" where the patient can't see, because of all their own "bling"? Most business' have not been closing because they wanted to.....nor are the people affected by the closings. When you have a glut of that....then there are jobs that need to be found....perhaps they should might find them in the "Fairy Tale" or better yet....stick their heads in the sand...and see if something will just come to them!!

Quite a few restaurants in the Dilworth/SouthEnd area have closed in the last six months. Anybody know if there is any planned openings? Its sad to see such a trendy area with so many vacancies.

What Dilworth/South End do you hang out in? I have not seen a massive amount of closings that you repeatedly report about in every area in town.

Isn't that what trendy means? Trends come and go.

Technically this is only a relocation and certainly not a restaurant going out of business.
The Manning family has been planning this move for some time, even alluding to it on their Facebook page for weeks.

I look forward to checking out La Paz's new location when they reopen.

Where exactly are all these vacancies? What restaurants have closed? I think maybe Sole, and I heard the Roly Poly closed...but that's it.

Ice House is pretty new, and Big Ben's is reopening in the Atherton Mills area.
