That's not totally it. A lot of us are from up north and we have a great deal of experience in driving on snow and ice. This area gets grazed with slush and cars are winding up in ditches. I'll never forget the one guy on CNC during that "snow storm" back in January and the reporter says...and I quote..."that slush caught a lot of people off guard". When a yankee drives on slush it's like driving on blacktop. When a southerner drives on slush it's as good as driving on ice.
The laws of physics apply equally to all,.....be you 'Northerner' or 'Southerner'. Driving more aggressively during inclement conditions, because of your driving experience in inclement conditions does nothing more than put both you and those around you in harms way. You certainly have the 'right' to drive to your ability......within the law and with respect for the other lives around you. I have nothing but respect for those with greater driving experience than I,.........and the next time I go 4 wheeling in those conditions, I'll call on you for help.......till then you'll be expected to have respect for the conditions on public thorofares and those of us with less experience. Thanks!

I knew someone was going to reference this thanks! It's black Ice folks I could care less if you drive a tank if you hit that black ice it will spin you for sure. Once it happens to you (which I hope it never does) next time you will use caution. Back in the day when NC only had one Salt truck (we now have 2) it would be days sitting in a ditch after hitting the black ICE. I had to chew my left leg off one year just to get free and hopped all the way to the hospital for 20 miles in sub zero weather! Actually I think it was 34 degrees but it was still cold. One day maybe we can sit down for a beer and I will tell you about the lawnmower story oh and the scatterbombing in the Huntersville business park!

You crack me up!! I wanna hear the stories!!!!! Just remember one thing....first liar doesn't stand a chance!

Personally, there isn't anything in the world that could get my northern self on the roads when the weather is snowy, icy, or slushy. My life is just too important to risk on the roads. My work already knows, I will be in when it's safe. I know for a fact they will not come get me off the I85 when I slide into a ditch, but they will send flowers if I get killed. Just being obnoxious.
I witnessed a woman at harris teeter asking for rock salt, the cashier was like, I apologize but I have no idea what that is. I was kinda laughing inside.
My yankee husband used to drive in all these conditions and it would take upwards of 3 hours to get to south park. When he got there he had tons of work because no one else could make it in and the manager would get peeved because she wanted to stay home due to the weather.
My advice, stay off the roads if the weather is bad. What do they make the slag or what ever it's called from?

I know black ice and I know slush. What we had here was just slush and Charlotte still seemingly closed down and cars were winding up off the road. Those roads were nothing more than just wet with some slush. So come on now....
Yep this past year we were lucky! I do not care what you say black Ice is BAD! I'll be first in line wrestling with the little ladies over bread and milk. Just because she may have been around 70 does not mean she can have the last gallon! She has already lived for awhile how about letting us Young un's experience it too! Jeez she was feisty. I had to get the store employees to help. She finally let go!

Yeah! Besides, it's people like her that have the handicapped tags on the cars, get the closest parking spaces, the best seats on trains and buses, doors constantly held open, assisted in walking across streats. I think trading all of that for a single, perishable item is more than acceptable!!!

In my original post I stated that it's not fair to say Charlotte drivers are so bad when actual people originally from Charlotte aren't the majority of people driving here now. I still contend that it is folks moving from very fast paced, large cities that are bringing their aggressive driving styles down here, putting us all at great risk.
