One of my accounts, is a Cadillac dealer. I've got to drive the first ELR that was delivered to the state, as well as a few others now. The dealer currently has 5 on the lot, with a 6th on order. Not a single one has sold...I am honestly shocked that they haven't sold a single one. In the 75-80k territory, yes, you have a lot of options with that large of a budget.

I've driven all of the electric/hybrid vehicles currently offered on the market, even a new E Series Mercedes Hybrid that I honestly was not impressed with at all. The only one I have not driven is a Tesla, although I see at least a few a day on average. In my opinion, the ELR is hand's down the nicest offering in the hybrid world, it comes with a steep price tag, but there is always a handful of people willing to the first in the neighborhood with the latest greatest car which I guess is why I am so surprised not a single unit has sold.

Driving them is a unique experience that you really cannot describe. I'm a performance junkie, and the ELR is obviously not a performance car, but it seriously feels like driving a car from the future. I feel like Will Smith in I-Robot when I drive one.

Any thoughts out there on the ELR and why it's not selling? Do you think it just comes back to price tag? Caddy has no problem selling a ton of Escalades for 80-90k, but I suppose it's a completely different demographic. Is it styling? Is it too similar in appearance to a CTS coupe? I think the styling takes some time, I personally like it more than I originally did a month ago. It's grown on me quite a bit.

Here's a few pics of the one I had my hands on today.

It's a Chevy Volt with two less doors and a much higher price tag. Might sell better in LA.

You're obviously biased.

It shares similarities with the Volt but it is a completely different car.

It is extremely overpriced and one can get a tesla which is a million times better for around the same price

Maybe it's the stupid ad that praised Americans for not taking vacations.

Not worth anywhere near what they're asking and the Volt is a better buy for identical tech. Ill take a CTS-V sedan though.

IF I'm spending $75-80k for a car...it won't be a Caddy. It is a very nice looking car though.

Make mine a new Corvette Stingray! MSRP starts at $53k and I'm sure the one I'll want is in the mid to upper 60k range.

People with money aren't dumb enough to buy it? That's Escalade money!

http://insideevs.com/march-2014-plug...s-report-card/

Quote:
Cadillac ELR: Last month the story was “Oh hello inventory!” as massive amounts (relatively speaking) of ELRs arrived at the 60% of dealers that didn’t “opt out” of selling the plug-in Cadillac for fear of low demand throughout the month.

This month 81 ELRs were sold. (March)

As for inventory, even more ELRs showed up as GM wound down full scale production of the luxury plug-in coupe in February. Heading into April, about 1,100 are ready to be bought…provided you have $75,995 in cash lying around; although we like the looks of their recently announced $699/month lease deal a lot better.

Also of interest: Cadillac has also made available a premium charging station for the ELR. And for the first 1,000 customers – it’s free!*
