We'd like to keep it under $550,000. We actually saw a house yesterday in south Wheaton. Whittier school, Farnham neighborhood. Liked the house and the neighborhood had a good feeling about it.
I don't have a lot to say about south Naperville, we didn't shop homes there. A little too car-centric for us, and too many newer subdivisions. But a lot of people love the area. Schools are mostly great. Surprised about the lack of kids.

Farnham is nice. Really no areas to avoid in Whittier's attendance zone. North side around school enjoys proximity to Metra, downtown and Kelly Park, south side further from school enjoys proximity to I-88 and Seven Gables. Young, energetic area.

Excellent schools, elem and middle school within walking distance. Quiet neighborhood with easy access to downtown. We loved that there is a little park tucked away just around the corner and the prairie path is also super close!

Good luck!

The house across the street from the above mentioned home on Golf is also for sale. They know they are over priced at $700k but reluctant to lower the listing price. We negotiated with them for a while but ended up settling on another home because the sellers didn't want to move out until June. PM me if you want more information.

holl1ngsworth, what part of Wheaton do you live? I get the feeling you are just north of downtown.

I actually live in Decatur. Once drove through Wheaton and thought it was heavenly. Now I spend my free time on this board telling people all about it.

Had me fooled, too...

I guess Wheaton isn't really all that special after all!

H'worth has said before that he and his family very much appreciate finding their home in Wheaton; they moved from Chicago and were motivated by the nice mix of amenities including schools that have nearly as impressive performance as those in towns with even more affluent demographics, especially when factoring out the somewhat larger population of students that contribute to "diversity"...
