Lakewood Homes takes our customers and our reputation very seriously, and we feel it necessary to reply to the negative posts within this blog about some of our Lakewood communities.

We offer a comprehensive warranty program, developed through many years of experience, and it is explained in detail when a home is purchased. For one year from the date you close on your home, Lakewood warrants against any defects from workmanship and materials, as well as provide any manufacturers warranties that extend beyond the two years. In addition we offer customer service technicians who come to your home to investigate all of your concerns. Components of your home may need service outside of the warranty period - that’s completely normal and part of regular home maintenance.

Items such as sump pumps may need to be replaced after their warranty periods have expired, and while Lakewood will service these items during your warranty period, we cannot be responsible for replacing these items indefinitely. However, reviewing the manufacturer’s warranty may be beneficial to help get the part replaced.

Sometimes there are more severe problems in a new home than a small mechanical issue. Living in the Midwest creates many weather related issues, such as ice dams and frost build-up in the attic. Every few years, especially when there are record snowfalls like we’ve had this winter, we have cases where attic vents are blocked by snowfall creating heat build-up in the attic area. Heat trapped in the attic can create a “rain” effect as frost which has built–up in the attic due to the lack of ventilation melts. When this happens, we thoroughly investigate the cause of the problem and make our best attempts to explain the phenomena. In any home, problems such as these can occur but it is NOT because of poor workmanship.

It’s true there are builders out there who use low-quality, cheap materials combined with poor workmanship to create shoddy, problem-ridden homes. Lakewood Homes has never been one of these builders and never will be…our numerous customer service awards including J.D. Power, plus a very high rate of residents referring their friends & family to us, proves we stand behind our commitment to quality. Lakewood Homes prides itself in continually striving for customer satisfaction, and the entire Lakewood Homes team is committed to ensuring this satisfaction. Lakewood sincerely believes satisfied homeowners are the greatest asset to our company, and we’ve spent years working on it.

We encourage you to thoroughly research the builder of your new home, and while most blog postings lean towards negative content, be receptive to those opinions while recognizing they’re only a few pieces of a much larger puzzle. We welcome you to discuss your concerns with us directly to ensure you’re making the right decision for you and your family. We do our very best to ensure happy homeowners, so it’s unfortunate if a point comes when we can no longer do anything to help. However, it would be a true shame for you to miss out the new home of your dreams based on the opinions of those few people.

Default Lakewood is a quality builder

I have two family members who have owned Lakewood Homes. They both had a great experience. There will always be a few strong opinions posted about negative experiences...but too often the majority of happy buyers do not chose to express their happiness in this format.

Lakewood has won many awards for quality and from what I can tell...they earned them. They are a Chicago builder and I like that!
