I'm personally sick of driving to Elgin, Milwaukee, Joliet or Hammond to get my casino fix. Why do Illinois' corrupt politicians want to place casinos only on boats and only in cities with connections or able to cut a "deal".

Where should the next casino be located? My vote is Waukegan for not only selfish reasons as well as Waukegan also fits the demographics of the other decaying urban areas that received casinos for supposed urban renewal.

Waukegan is what a city looks like after it gets a casino. Cough!!! Elgin... I think you should gamble with friends. I have seen people poor and rich gamble away $fortunes$.

You remember the Ben Franklin arts and crafts stores that were everywhere 20 years ago? Gone to horse races and the mob... Go to the Bahamas or some other foreign locale if you want to waste money.

I agree w/you that Waukegan seems to have the right demographics and location (on the lake and centrally located between Milwaukee and Chicago). I've lived in both Waukegan and Elgin in the past. It seems that in recent years, Elgin has had much urban renewal (perhaps from casino $?) - better magnat school programs, new library, civic center, park district facilities, etc.. I'm not a casino patron, but maybe it makes sense for Waukegan - a town that has really gone downhill since I grew up there many years ago...

From a revenue standpoint, Rosemont or Downtown Chicago. Rosemont is poised to take advantage of all the delayed flight at O'Scare.

I agree with you here. Rosemont or downtown Chicago would be my recommendations.

I'm not comfortable with the government getting into the casino business. It's a horrible racket that preys on human weaknesses. Keep the casinos OUT of Chicago, and let the seedy border locales keep 'em if they want 'em. The last thing we need in Chi-town is more sketchy folks getting desperate.
