I understand your points, however, if I want national/global news I watch one of the major networks newscasts.
I actually expect the local stations to focus on local news. That is why we have both national and local news back to back at 5pm and 530pm on ABC, CBS, NBC, etc.

While I'm at it, LA is just as bad, so not singling out Chicago. They are both "just big enough" that sometimes they don't see the forest for the trees. SF and Boston media have a more international/national angle also and tend to follow what's going on in DC/NYC, just they have weaker journalists/newspapers.

most local news programs focus on, well, locally related news. happens in every city

I agree the sears aka willis tower is very sinister looking....like a beast. Its certainly not pretty but very foreboding of something sinister in my opinion. It is supposedly up for sale so maybe it will have another name at some point.

No, nobody realized that. You're the first.

The Sears Tower was the tallest building in the U.S. -- in the western hemisphere for that matter -- before the Twin Towers were destroyed. Not for long though.

I wouldn't say it's sinister or foreboding, but I do find it rather clunky-looking. And it tends to look "fat" on camera.

hahaha. You realize it's called the local news because it talks about local events, right? They second they stray is the second you start rolling your eyes.

I actually liked Chicago news more than other areas like NYC because they actually focus on what's going on here, instead of making everything into a national or world based event. I have CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC or 50 other outlets for national/world news

It's one of the better qualities about this city, it's pretty grounded. You can feel like a person instead of just some unit existing in something that's suppose to always be far above your personal little existance. Not trying to say you're wrong, just that there are a lot of people who appreciate Chicago because it's not always trying to be something it's not or the best of the best. It's just a city full of people who chose to live here together.
