Well sometimes I do say that. I hate when people really care about such things as this...its really not that important.

"Chicago", "near Chicago", "outside Chicago" "Chicago suburb" who cares. Hell 90% of the time when I meet somebody from Chicago They ask "City or Suburbs" anyway.

Plus a lot of people in the burbs either grew up in the city or spent some years growing up in the city.

Topic has already been beaten to death

I'm just trying to understand from a Chicago-native's perspective... also not trying to have elitists ride in on their high horse...

Anyway, cubssoxfan, I did try searching for this kind of topic but didn't see anything in the initial results. If you can find old topics on this please link and moderators can merge.

This all kind of stirred thought in my brain because more often than not, when I tell people I'm from L.A., I get asked if I'm really from L.A. So I wondered if there was that sort of sentiment about being from Chicago as well.

Chicago natives love their city and frown on the suburbs! If suburbanites want to say they're from Chicago then they should move here! Just Trolling!

On a related note, one thing that took some getting used to when I first moved here was people telling me they were going "out of town" for the holidays, and when I asked where, they gave me the name of some Chicago suburb.

Who says it's important? It's also not important if someone on the internet says 2+2 is 5, but it's still stupid.
