It's looking more and more likely that I'll be moving away from Chicago this year (possibly back to the East Coast). If I do leave, the things I will miss most include:

-Lou Malnati. Nothing specific-deep dish, thin crust, whatever. It's the only time when I truly enjoy Chicago style pizza (sorry guys, just never became enamored with deep dish pies!)
-Authentic Mexican food in Little Village. Boston sucks for Mexican food so I never had any of the good stuff before moving here.
-Near 24/7 public transportation. Even with the recent hikes, it's still a good deal, especially if you live off of the blue or red line.
-The lakefront. Compared to Boston, Chicago has done an AMAZING job developing its waterfront. I would truly miss the long walks from Millennium Park to North Ave or Montrose Beach during the summer.
-The skyscrapers. Now that I'm no longer in school and constantly in the Loop, the few times a month I'm downtown, I'm always taken aback by some of these buildings.

Depending on where I was moving, the transportation, with the L able to get you around and flights available to just about anywhere. I concur with the food choices. Nobody mentioned the weather, nobody will miss the changeability, though we really dont get the extremes. The sports scene: not always championship but always active. Good theater scene even though it is in "flyover" territory.

I would miss the people. IMO Chicago has that perfect balance of being laid back while also being hustle and bustle. The people are very nice, but not overly nice as you find in places like Indianapolis and most cities in the south. People also keep their distance, but not as cold or rude as the Northeast. People here have a lot of Pride in the city and support this city no matter what. Chicago people are overall sophisticated enough, but aren't obessed or materialistic like in Miami, LA, etc, and unlike places where sophistication is lacking like Jacksonville, San Antonio, Phoenix, etc.

Chicago is very much a balanced city in regards to people. While I don't dislike people from the Northeast, I am not crazy about them. Same for people in the South and for the most part around the rest of the Midwest. People out West are a mixed bag. But Chicago people imo are the best.

I agree with this. Im tired of how the Northeast is. Chicago IMO, in all facets, is balance. People, weather, COL, etc.

Family, food, summers, the lake front.

Dallas does not compare in those 4.

I miss Molly's cupcakes, Pizanos, Chinatown, Korean BBQ, Bob Chinns, the Casino buffets, RPM Italian, Osteria Via Stato... so many.

Default key4lp missing chicago

I miss Chicago really bad. I'd have to say it's the cultural and ethnic diversity and neighborhoods which
can make you feel you are traveling abroad. Another major reason which I wish we could move back is
the food. Oh boy, it's the Italian Beef. Then there's all those wonderful ethnic deli's, bakeries and
restaurants. Plus, the Field Museum, the only free zoo in the US (Lincoln Park) Halsted St. Blues and
plays, the lakefront, the neighborhoods, all those mom and pop ethnic restaurants and more.

I miss people who know what a "gang way" is (the narrow path between two buildings) people who
tell you the time by saying it's 10 to (ex. 10 minutes to 3:00) and the wonderful 2 flats and unique
Chicago bungalows. Most architectural students study Chicago because of its wonderful and
varied architectural buildings.
I miss the sound of a Chicago "blue collar worker."
I would love to move back home but can't afford it right now.
