People pronounce all kinds of things in all kinds of ways, including "pecan," but the correct pronunciation of Roosevelt is the one used by Mr. Roosevelt. Google "roosevelt radio talks youtube".

The way to pronounce Goethe used to be "Ambassador East". That was before it closed. I don't know what today's pronunciation is.

(For the unfamiliar, Goethe is a very short street, so going to the Ambassador East would have been close enough.)

It is now pronounced GUR-tuh (even the CTA bus recordings say that) and you used to hear GO-thee a lot before.

Teddy Roosevelt pronounced it roos, Franklin pronounced it rose.

Byoo - enna is how my Uncle and Father said Buena and they were raised in Edgewater & Uptown in the 1930s. They were native Chicagoans and definitely not hillbillies. Also, I always thought Bryn Mawr rhymes with Tin Car was pretty strange.
