The last time I even saw an Arthur Treacher's was in Breezeville, PA (the big crossroads town) about twenty years ago.

Wow, blast from the past, I think I remember one on Central north of Fullerton. I checked out the website, they're still around but only out East.

It is mostly because of changing neighborhoods and somewhat partially because most burger places now have several chicken items versus the past when each only had nuggets and a basic sandwich.

I like KFC...Popeyes to me, takes like somthing I make at home. Heck, if your going to eat fried food, it may as well say, "southern fried." Nobody fries better than the south!

I agree! The KFC by me is absolutley disgusting. You walk in, there is grease all over the place; tables, floor, walls, you name it, there is grease on it. The food is usually all dried out, there are boogers on the windows and all over the walls (shows the caliber of people that go there!) and it just isn't healthy and that is part of the problem... The way of the future is to NOT be fat and many people are really trying to watch what they eat, explaining why Subway and Jimmy Johns are growing so fast; people want to eat healthier for the most part, and I'm one of them.

I'll be honest here - I do get cravings for KFC. I used to live by a KFC that had an all-you-can-eat buffet and that pretty much trained me to become the Kobayashi of the original recipe - I can't each fried chicken like a normal human being anymore. It did, however, convince me that Col. Sanders is indeed part of the pentaverate that controls the world.

I agree with others that it might have something to do with the healthful eating craze. When I get a craving for fried chicken now, I make it at home- at least that way I know exactly what's in it, and I've come to think mine (well really my SO's) is best anyway...

Well good. We don't need a fast food joint on every block anyway. That's why everyone is fat and causing healthcare cost to sky-rocket. Oh, Popeyes and Harold's is much better anyway.

If you ask me, people are fat because they never walk and lack self-control. In serious moderation, fast food can be oh so glorious. Fast food doesn't make people fat. People make people fat.

I was talking to a Parisian who grew up in Russia, and she asked why everyone goes running here in America. She rarely sees that in Paris, nor did she see it in London or various towns in Russia when she lived there. We surmised that it's because we never walk and eat crap every day. If that weren't the case, we wouldn't need to run so often.
