The El, even during the day, is filled with some shady characters.

If you are coming from Boston (or NY or DC), then you are in for a bit of a shock. Boston's T is mostly college students and professionals - Chicago's mass transportation attracts a much different crowd.

Originally my wife was going to take the red then blue line from Gold Coast to UIC. After 1 day we nixed that idea and now she takes the car. No way I would let her on those lines at night.

I live up between Hollywood and Ardmore. And I couldn't live close to Tedino's because I'd be 500 pounds now.

and I ride the L every and don't get harassed or stabbed or anything terrible, just to keep it on topic.

If you and your wife arent down with the El, thats cool.

That said, your post is pretty much 100 percent B.S.

ORLY? Here's an even better one. Take the train to the airport. Holy ****, it's like traveling through a third world country.

You're coming off like a total wuss with these silly remarks. I doubt you have more than 2 hours of experience on the NYC subway with a comment like that.
