perhaps, most likely, the state will continue with the casino plans. It's been legislated. With that hurdle crossed, it seems it is going to happen regardless of how lucrative it would be for both city and state. It would definitely be lucrative to a number of powerful people, both in and out of government, who can get things done. And do.

I don't see anything governmental stopping the casino, short of a judge deciding a law suit that finds it illegal to build a casino in any city that does not have a Star Wars museum.

The casino is definitely not going at the former Michael Reese Hospital site. The 3rd and 4th ward alderman and the community both doubled down and said "No" to the casino and other plans for the site are moving forward. That also eliminates the location near Comiskey Park

Time to shift focus to near the United Center and take advantage of booming west side with all that vacant land, closeness to downtown, 290, and pink/blue/green line access.

.
Of course... destroy the opportunity to place it in the best possible location for drawing tourists. That's the Chicago way.

Tons of new hotels are headed for West Loop / Fulton Market. Tons of tourists go to Bulls / Blackhawks games. Tons of Tourists go to the endless dinner / nightlife spots in West Loop. Whenever someone comes to Chicago and asks for dinner recs I just say "Go to the West Loop". There are also tons of business travelers who will be in West Loop given all the corporate relocations there. Here's a list of all the new hotels going up in west loop:

- Developers unveil two Fulton Market hotel projects with more than 700 rooms

PLUS
- a 20-story project at nearby 920 W. Lake
- a 17-story proposal for 210 N. Aberdeen
- the 12-story Pendry Hotel at 1043 W. Fulton Market
- the mixed-use Equinox Hotel slated for 725 W. Randolph
- The long-delayed Nobu project is expected to open later this year
- Existing Fulton Market hotels like the Hoxton, Ace, and Soho House.

It pretty much has to go near the United Center because you need highway access and tons of parking. Look at the Hard Rock design going up in Rockford right off of 90. South side has been ruled out. It's not going in the north side. West side is only option.

There was comments on the Thompson Center for the Casino ..... Definitely L access and right in the Loop easy access to hotels and those north of the Loop. Clearly, drivers to downtown find access there with no issues ....

Any further thoughts on that one.

Multiple reasons why it will not go in Thompson Center:

- Lightfoot will veto that location because she has promised to develop non-downtown hoods

- The Clark / Lake underground stop sits below Thompson Center and requires a ton of development planning which would delay a casino build for years.

- Thompson is already a developed business area. No point in putting a casino in the heart of business/gov district.

- We should want it to go elsewhere to draw further development. The 78 and Lincoln Yards are continuing development outwards while still staying close to the downtown core. If you put the casino in the parking lot south of the United Center at Adams and Damen you'll continue to pull development west and also possibly create an entertainment center around the United Center. Imagine the shopping district, casino, restaurants, bars etc. all built up in those UC parking lots similar to how Wrigley is now. Would be a huge tourist attraction and imagine what it would do for East Garfield Park development.

When the Bears move to Arlington Heights, the casino/sports betting will be part the Soldier Field site.

Put it on the former site of Meigs Field. Make it a lakefront casino/marina.
