Hi,
My friend will be in Chicago for 2 days next week (21,22 of March). Please help me to find some local store in Chicago with Dell Mini 9 laptop. I can pay online or he will pay by cash.

Thanks in advance.

You can just point me to some store. I've tried to find it on-line, but they hadn't such a model.

Sure. But they need too much time to build the system and to ship it. I have had a conversation with their support and they proposed me to find some local store in the city. They proposed to have a look at Best Buy, Wal Mart and Cost Co shops. But on their web-sites there is no Dell Mini 9 laptops That's why I'm asking for help. Maybe somebody from the city knows some electronic store with such laptop.

Default International People

I get the feeling that, by the way you said "21, 22 of March" instead of "March 21st and 22nd", that you are not indigenous to the United States (since very few people born and raised in the USA would ever list the day of the month before stating the month).

I know that when you order from dell.com, you have to indicate if the item is going out of the country, I assume to pay that country's taxes and other customs inspections (or whatever they impose).

I think this person is trying to come to the US and buy the laptop here, while in person, to avoid doing this.

To the Original Poster: Try to research it on costco.com and any other site that you sees sells them. If possible, try to call an exact store and have them hold one for you if you find them. Dell.com is still mostly an online retailer, except for a few places like Sam's Club and Costco, so you might have difficulty finding it. Have you also tried "Best Buy"?

Hi, alwaystraveling25
Thanks for the comment. You are right, I'm living outside of the United States. One of my friends will have a short visit to the USA and I want to ask him to buy a laptop for me. I can't order shipping of the netbook to my country from American Dell page, and on localized page there is no possibility to order it at all.
Another shipping variants (from another on-line stores) to my country are unacceptable because of a lot of troubles with shipping and customs (I should wait up to several mounts while all operation with custom will be completed).

As I have said previously I have already checked web pages of "Costco", "Best Buy" and "Wal Mart". They haven't such a model unfortunately. But I'll try to make a call to some of their stores anyway, thanks.

Hi, long101
Thanks for your answer. I'll give a try to find some local store in Chicago with this site. But any suggestions will be appreciated very much.

last I remembered, not too many stores carried Dell on site. I think Staples does, but I've never seen them at other stores like Best Buy. plus, honestly, if you have the option to buy online instead of in Chicago, I'd buy online just to skirt the high sales tax here.

what is it about this specific system that you need? if you list the specs or call an electronic store w/ the specs, we/they may be able to find you a similar system

ETA: ok, so I googled the Dell mini 9 and see that it's just a netbook. I would print out the specs page from Dell for that system and just bring it to Best Buy or some other store to see if they have a similar system. I know that Asus has an inexpensive and popular netbook that may be similar. unless you absolutely need a Dell, I'd try for another brand that can be found easily in stores

Hi, eevee

Thank you for your help very much!
You a right, Dell Mini 9 is a name of a series of netbooks. It's possible to build it's custom configuration on Dell's site. Ideally, preferred configuration is the following (in brackets you can find comments about severity level of the options):
Model: Dell Mini 9
OS: Ubuntu (not critical)
RAM: 2Gb (at least 1Gb)
HDD: 16Gb (at least 4Gb)
Bluetooth: built-in bluetooth 2.1 (must)
Webcam: integrated 1.3M webcam (must)

I know about offers from Asus and Acer, but to be honest, in this case I would prefer a model from Dell.
Thanks again for your help!
