Cheapest SFH's close to downtown
What neighborhoods close to downtown have the most affordable single family homes? Is it possible to find a house a few miles from downtown that is move-in ready for under 150k?

Not in any neighborhood with a reasonable measure of safety... But you can sometimes find houses for under $50K in Englewood with all of the pipes and wires stripped out of them--and potentially with squatter inhabitants.

There are quite a few near pill hill. I got a cute little cape cod for $163K The area is very nice but if you aren't black and have issues about living around us, it might not work for you. Also as long as you understand that 150K is not gonna get you granite, ss appliances, and 3000 sqft then you should be able to find something.

That really surprises me that you can get a SFH in Pill Hill for that. I have never looked at real estate listings for the area but it always seemed so well manicured when I've been there. I figured it was like a more middle class Kenwood or like a wealthier Chatham.

Our current home is 3 BR, 1 Bath, 1380 sq ft and it's plenty of house for the time being. My current neighborhood is about equal between Blacks (African Americans and East Africans), Whites and Hispanics with some Asians and Native Americans and I like living with diversity. As long as my neighbors are nice I'm cool with any kind of ethnicity.

Oh no I said near pill hill, not in it, LOL. Its amazing. I live one block away and its like I can walk across the street and the home prices literally jump up to 300K. And the homes aren't even updated! Some still have an interior that's straight out of the 70s. I guess that's real estate for ya.

I have seen probably two white people over there in the last ten years, had no idea that any actually lived in the neighborhood. Is this east or west of Jeffrey?
