Chicago city unemployment % was 9.7% in November 2012. The labor force of the city is 1272729, meaning there's 123,454 unemployed persons in the city, not 300,000.

The MSA had an unemployment rate of 8.3%, while the labor force is 4870409. That's 404,243 people in the MSA.
