In a thread that got closed some people were giving their reasons why the current time is so evil and that means the rapture is at hand.

I posted some facts about now vs. the past.
Are we really more evil today?

Jesus says that Love is the key.

Lets look at the "evil" now as compared to just 20 -70 years ago.

Systematic murder of over 13 million people in the 30‘s and 40‘s. No love there.

The Abortion rate was the highest ever in 1980, the pure number of abortions was highest in 1991. No love there.

The US homicide rate peaked in 1991. No love there.

What do we have more of today? (this was an example given of the current evil, gay rights and porn)

Gay people being able to see each other in the hospital and share property. Love? Sounds like it to me.

Porn and sex? Hmm, voluntary consensual acts. Love? Maybe not. Can non-married people share love? Sure.

Do we see more bad things because of 24/7 news? Yes but it does not mean that things are worse today.

Good points. The only mistake is that the abortion rate peaked in 1980, not 1970. Abortion wasn't even legal until 1973.

I tend to believe that, over the very long term, humans are becoming more moral, not less....but it's a very slow rate of change. We are also a planet of 6 Billion people that is more interconnected than ever before....so we don't have the luxury of taking it slowly any more. More moral/ethical behavior is required just from the sheer number of people living on the planet and the impact we have on it. By that standard, I think we're still coming up short.

We also live in an era where it can be easy for evildoers to affect a lot of people. I am very concerned about the centralization/concentration of both wealth and power that have happened in business and government over the last century.

Fixed it, thanks. I think most of the people most obsessed with "evil" think it is gays and sex that make it the worst era.

Every age thinks that the end is near.

We know not the time or day. Live every day as if it were your last. One day will be.

hmm I don't know, but it was either Billy Graham or his wife that said "if Jesus doesn't come back soon,God's gonna have to apologise for Sodom and Gomorah".
very good point.
(and I believe in being fair to all,I just think it was a good point).

I still don't see what that is based on? I highly doubt that God thinks consensual sex acts are the greatest evil.

This evil age is waning which came from the Islamic Jihad injustice against Islam, Israel and the Western Countries, which should cool off some five to ten years and be gone, which is rooted against babylon spirit and spread into countiries fighting back against this menas..... Jesus is coming soon , But he has to many strong Believers in the World right now and there is no threat on losing his church, This Threat will come from within and conditions will change and laws will corrupt the freedoms, and faith in Jesus will be almost lost, then Jesus will come and bring his long awaited renewal

Evil is in the eye of the beholder. Seek and ye shall find.

Bad people will always do bad things, always have, always will. Many use the cloak of religion for their deeds, but 'evil' as a force is non-existent.

Approving of things against Gods will is what makes this world more evil. It is not just gays and sex but look at all the things the world approves of that God condemns, here is just a small list;
Of Corse the obvious that you pointed out gays and sex on many level but we have abortion, a broken legal system, a broken political system, violence in every nation, the complete disregard of Gods word, attacks on the followers of God both legal and political, lies promoted as fact for monetery benefit.
This is just a small list with many ramifications that lead to even more evil upon the seemingly innocent of this world.
