I hope I don't confuse anyone with this question and all I really need is a simple answer, perhaps (and preferably) accompanied by Scripture to support your answer: Is it our duty as believers to engage and fight deception when we encounter it in the spiritual path we walk - or do we ignore it and keep moving along, allowing it to remain unchallenged so long as we recognize it for what it is and do not allow it to affect us?

If you uncover deception, you should ignore it and move along.

You are not the only intelligent person in the world. Other people will also uncover the deception and ignore it. The world will be fine without you getting in everyone's face.

I believe it is our responsibility to teach the gospel of Jesus Christ as we understand it to those who may be receptive, but also to recognize that differences of opinion do not make one of us superior to the other or any less worthy of God's love.

A man's enemies are those of his own household, that should keep us busy for a while.

Yes we should confront deception, unless you are a universalist christian because when they confront deception, they do so unlovingly and always with judgement.

Are we misunderstanding your question or what? I, for one, would really like to talk about this, but if the OP needs clarifying, please do so instead of just asking that the thread by closed.

It all depends on what you mean by deception. In your opinion, is deception someone who doesn't believe the way you do? Is it someone who pushes you into doing or believing something that you don't want to do or believe? Or is it telling you bold face lies when you have actual facts pertaining to that particular thing? At a "religious" standpoint, I don't believe anyone knows all there is to know about God so there should only be differences of opinions, not deception.

We should never ever push our own beliefs onto another. It's everyones right to believe as they will. Now if someone is not treating another with love, then by all means step in and show that person what love is but you, or any other person, should never push your beliefs onto another no matter what the circumstances are. Just because you believe in Jesus or Buddha or whoever, doesn't mean everyone else has to.

I simply reconsidered, that's all. I'm not a relativist. I believe in absolute truths and sound doctrine. In this forum, I won't be able to discuss this matter without finding myself in a battle against those who believe in relativism.
