What is or is not morally right depends entirely on your state of mind, Heartsong. IF it is relief that a force for Evil in our world has been removed and turned over to our loving God that is the source of your joy . . . then it is morally sound. Those of us who know our loving God do not consider death a negative occurrence.
Violence begets more violence. The cheering and flag-waving made me uncomfortable as I felt no joy upon hearing news of the killing. My first thought was, what's next .... ball in the other court. I'm tired of the ugly game. I think a person commenting on the article in question summed it up well with these words...
"pray for the many who will die tommorow, because we danced in the streets today".
Which also made me think of Jesus words: "Do not weep for me, but weep for yourselves and your children."
Of course not but as human beings we are imperfect and sometimes take satisfaction in things we shouldn't! I just hope there is a hell and Osama is in it !
Scripture tells us that it's wrong to gloat and celebrate over these types of things:
Pro 24:17 Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:
Pro 24:18 Lest the LORD see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
I do not celebrate the death of a human being. I celebrate the death of a voice that believed all the killings in 911 was Gods will and he was happy to be a leader to help plan and finance such a thing to get it to happen. Yep, I'll celebrate the death of that and feel no shame about it.
Scripture also says rejoice in the things that are of God. And to boast only in the things that are of God. A false prophet has been destroyed. One Nation Under God!
Actually, if we stop and think about it, all things ultimately are of God and work accordingly to His will. And, all nations are also under His power and divine sovereignty. God rules over all things, including the things we don't like to think about:
Rom 13:1 LET every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
Isa 45:7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
1Sa 2:6 The LORD killeth, and maketh alive: he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.
1Sa 2:7 The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
And yet, certain things we are warned not to gloat over and rejoice in. When we see are enemies fall, we should fear God rather than rejoice. We too were once "His enemy" and we too could have had our own lives cut short:
Col 1:21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled
Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
Folks celebrate the death of one man. Remember, people on his side of the world celebrated when 3,000 died in the WTC.
Just adding a little perspective.
