That would make sense ... wouldn't it. People have no problem when Jesus says:
Matthew 25:46
“..... but the righteous to eternal life.”
they go
but people completely lose it when Jesus says:
Matthew 25:46 "Then they will go away to eternal punishment......."
they go :mad :
I read a theologian who suggested that the reason one can be temporary and the other eternal is because when the saved are incorporated into the eternalness of God, then a temporary state becomes an eternal one only through becoming part of God, which the unsaved naturally are not---hence the use of the same word (aion) meaning two durations. Wish I'd saved the reference.
"Did God really say..." Satan has been using it since the beginning and he sticks with it because it works.
Did God really say that He will have all men to be saved? No, that is just a desire, and God can't achieve what He desires.
