In 1978 an international Summit Conference of evangelical leaders was held in Chicago to draft a statement regarding the inerrancy of the Bible. The statement included nineteen Articles in an Affirmation and Denial format and was signed by nearly 300 noted evangelical scholars.
Here is Article Ten of the statement.
Article X.
WE AFFIRM that inspiration, strictly speaking, applies only to the autographic text of Scripture, which in the providence of God can be ascertained from available manuscripts with great accuracy. We further affirm that copies and translations of Scripture are the Word of God to the extent that they faithfully represent the original.
WE DENY that any essential element of the Christian faith is affected by the absence of the autographs. We further deny that this absence renders the assertion of Biblical inerrancy invalid or irrelevant.
Job 23:12 "I have not departed from the command of His lips; I have treasured the words of His mouth more than my necessary food.
Jeremiah 15:16 Your words were found and I ate them, And Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; For I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.
Psalm 119:105 Your word is a lamp to my feet And a light to my path.
Matthew 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE ON BREAD ALONE, BUT ON EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS OUT OF THE MOUTH OF GOD.'"

OMG...Seriously????? Inerrancy by committee...that's a new one.
And that's worse than errancy by ChristyGirl?
These are some very learned men....and they got together to draft a set of standards to agree on. I don't see an issue with it. Do you have a problem with anything they said?

Man shall not live on the bible alone, but on every word that proceeds from the Spirit.
