So are we saved by grace? Or by loving and doing good things?
We are saved by Christ and His perfection and grace covers our imperfections. The "loving of God and each other" brings us under His grace and into harmony with His love for us all . . . as does repenting when we don't. That is our sanctification.
Quote:
The OT, along with the NT gives a complete picture of God. The entire Bible is about how man has sinned and God redeems man through Christ.
The OT shows how poorly we understood God and His Will for us in our savagery and barbarity. It prepared us for Christ. Told us how to identify Him when He came. Told us What His status is. Told us how to validate Him through prophesies that continue to this very day. It was our schoolmaster in righteousness . . . taming our savagery by fear of God as the beginning of wisdom and evolving our self-control.
At the time of Christ and the NT . . . the "fields were ripe for the harvest" and we were ready to learn the real Spirit behind the letter of the law teaching our savage ancestors obedience and self-control over their baser urges . . . agape love. Unfortunately God and Jesus knew what our savage ancestors would do to Him and His message because of their barbarity and savage beliefs about God (sins). Christ was willing to bring God's message of love (redeem His promise) and subject Himself to their barbarity out of love for us ALL . . . because they "knew not what they were doing."
Since Christ . . . God has "written in our hearts" and Christ has revealed the true nature of our God and our true purpose . . . to spread the agape love of God throughout the earth by "love of God and each other." That is God's Will for earth that we are responsible for manifesting . . . as it is in heaven. The NT describes Christ, our God, how we are to be, what agape love IS, and how we can identify it by its fruits . . . so that no false spirit can lead us astray from the truth. Christ's death and the rebirth of His human consciousness as Spirit made His Holy Spirit available to us all within our consciousness as the Comforter to guide us to the truth God has "written in our hearts." We are truly Blessed. God has "written in our hearts" so all will know Him, Christ has provided the Way to God (connection for our Spirits) for us ALL (saved us from eternal separation) and He abides with us to guide us to the truth "written in our hearts."

And, you are suggesting that those who don't believe as you have NOT been recipients of "His Holy Spirit", and haven't been guided by "the Comforter" to the truth. Mike and Vizio obviously disagree and believe that you are the one misguided. For this reason, many could conclude that Christianity isn't legitimate since their one god is not providing a coherent message of his attributes and requirements.

You keep ascribing our human inadequacies to God and His Holy Spirit . . . why? The communication issue lies with the receivers . . . NOT the sender.
That sounds like the 2 page Fundamentalist Bible Cliff notes version, not the actual Bible.
In short, yes. I'm actually going to start a sermon series on Genesis after Easter. I'm looking forward to preaching through Genesis and showing how it's all about Jesus.

That is the Law. Have you done it perfectly? I know I haven't. Nothing we do can "bring us under his grace". He offers it to us freely by his Grace.

That is the command of Jesus to be one of His disciples. Feel free to ignore it at your own peril. I have repeatedly and continuously said that WE have nothing to do with our salvation . . . Christ did that for us all. But we ARE responsible for our sanctification and that requires following His commands to "love God and each other" daily and repent when we don't. There is no requirement for perfection on our part. That is the path I will be following till I die . . . feel free to choose some other path.

You're communicating the chicken/egg paradox. How can a non-believer learn the attributes of God without the Holy Spirit, which he/she doesn't have access to until he/she becomes a believer? The Bible is the only source for this "knowledge". And, since the Bible is so unreliable, how can a non-believer really know what to believe? As you've seen, even some mature Christians don't understand the Bible in your opinion.

So 'in short', you have created your own version of God and the Bible and want to indoctrinate your 'flock' to follow your version.
Do you fancy yourself as the new 'John Calvin'? Are you trying to create yet another sect of 'Christianity'?

Nope. Genesis contains quite a few pointers toward Jesus.
