Yes, but, honestly, not as much as I feel that I should. Like many, I also often get wrapped-up in praying for the sick and injured ... and overlook the healthy-appearing ...'lost and dying'
Along these lines, it seems that about 80-percent of corporate prayer is focused on earthly 'well being'. Meanwhile, a large percentage of the folks around us are already 'dead without knowing it', because of their lack of 'faith in Jesus Christ' ... who is the only Way to Salvation and Eternal Life.
Do you ask God to work in their hearts for them to believe?
In the morning I often pray not just for non-believing family and friends but for 4 immediate neighbors.
I pray that God will send someone to them who can have the right words to reach their hearts.
Two of the four I do get to speak with, but the other two just in passing. [ hardly ever home ]
I pray [ Luke 11 v 13 B ] that God will send his spirit to them to help them find Him, and help them where they need help so as to grow spiritually.
I recall someone saying our prayers to God should be as specifically detailed as possible.
If you believe in free will why do you pray for a loved one to believe? Isn't that their decision. I can see that you might pray for the sort of influences to come to them that might convince them to believe. I believe it is God's will for all to come to the truth in due time so I simply pray for His will in their life to be done as in mine. I trust that He will accomplish His plan for everyone's life. I understand that does not set well with many. But it is what I believe.
so, u are saying that christians shouldnt pray for the lost?
btw why is it that christians take offense at christians praying for those who dont know JESUS.
considering what is peddled on christian tv networks as christianity , I would think christians would have bigger problem to deal with or discuss than someone who prays for a lost soul.
Scarlet kind of figured out just above your post where I was going. I find it interesting that there are all kinds of people that think Calvinism is evil, but they sure do pray like a Calvinist when they pray for a loved one to believe. If you truly believe that it's ONLY up to their free will.....why pray for them to believe?
Personally, I believe the Bible where it says that God moves the heart of man.
Prov 21:1 "The king’s heart is a stream of water in the hand of the LORD; he turns it wherever he will."
I wouldn't say I pray for particular friends, unless we had an exchange that made me want to pray for them. I pray in general that people who are lost will find their way to God. Yes, its their choice, but that doesn't mean I can't pray they make the right choice. I pray for my choices all the time, that I make the right ones that are pleasing to God.
