Praying for guidance to make the right choices in my own life isn't the same as praying for God to influence someone else's decision if you believe God won't interfere with their free will. Either He will or He won't. I don't see how you can believe both. If He does intervene, I think He would regardless of my hope either way. Still, prayer and communion with God is good for our soul, I just don't feel that my prayer is going to turn the outcome one wit different than God has planned already.

I don't really have friends. So I pray for the well being of people I know are atill alive. I pray for the well being if my family too. I specifically pray for faith during troubled times that will come upon my life.
I pray for this country also, but for other countries as well, not just Israel. And to learn for me and my family to be content in all things.

That's nice and so do I. The thing is, don't most Christians actually pray that others will believe exactly as they believe. I say that because there are so many professing Christians who would treat me as if I don't even know Christ since I don't believe the same things they believe about God and the bible, etc. So some would, in their minds, count me as being excluded from the Kingdom of God and "cut off from God's grace" simply because I do not agree with their doctrine. I don't pray nearly as much as I ought - I'm sure of that, which includes neglect of praying for "all men" and people who have made themselves my enemies for various reasons... religion, politics and such.

No, I do not.

Matthew 22:1
King James
For many are called, but few are chosen.

Jeremiah 1:5
King James
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; and before you came forth out of the womb I sanctified you, and I ordained you a prophet unto the nations.

I agree with you, Scarlet. And I'm an avid believer in the saying that prayer changes us, not God or others. I pray for God to give me understanding and to make me tender hearted and forgiving. This world will harden our hearts if we let it.

What do those verses have to do with praying for non-believers?

How do you account for the passages that specifically say that God predestines and elects some, like Ephesians 1 and Romans 8-9?

I pray [ Luke 11 v 13 B ] that God will send his spirit to them to help them find Him, and help them where they need help so as to grow spiritually.

I recall someone saying our prayers to God should be as specifically detailed as possible.
Excellent post, Matthew 4:4. We know that it is not God's will that any person on this earth will not perish. See 2Peter 3:[9] The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
I pray that everyone who is still in spiritual darkness can be influenced to hunger and thirst after righteousness as the Gentile Cornelius was doing in Acts Ch. 10 But we know that human nature is often blinded to light, choosing with their free agency to continue in darkness rather than to come to the light which is ONLY found in Jesus. So I also add in my prayer that the will of the Lord will be done.

A very good question, Vizio. I believe that our heavenly Father, in His omniscience knows the heart of every person on this earth who is diligently seeking to know right from wrong, and that in His omnipotence is able to connect them to someone who can explain te gosopel to them. I believe that Calvinism has made a gross error in concluding that Jesus only died for the elecct. I believe that He died for everyone on the face of the earth and that those whom He foreknows will repent, He will draw to Himself. His foreknowledge of who will seek for Him is the guiding principle here, not that he saves some through His mercy but condemns others who have the freedom of will to reject His knocking at the door of their hearts.
