I have noticed that there are some Christians who get every answer to every question from the Bible. If the Bible does not mention something then they can't answer the question. Why not think for yourself once in a while? Even if they might think otherwise, they will ignore their own thoughts because of what is in the Bible.
I watched a video the other day of the pastor who said that gay people should be killed. He was on some news show and the interviewer kept asking the pastor if the thinks all gays should be killed, and all the pastor could say is "well, in the bible..." He could not answer what he thinks, he can only answer what he thinks because of what is in the Bible. I find this very odd to say the least.
It seems like if the Bible said that grass is purple some of these people would say that grass must be purple while staring at a green lawn.
Am I wrong in my observations? If not, then why do certain people choose to sometimes even ignore their own thoughts and feelings and would rather listen to the Bible that was written by men with their own thoughts and feelings.
Please don't begin your answer with 'well, in the Bible..." or "the Bible tells us...". haha! Everything does not need to be answered with some Bible passage.

Hrm, I would say she is bang-on in her interpretation. For far too many fundamentalists if the bible doesn't have the answer, then there is no answer. The concept of thinking for oneself is tossed aside.

If your beliefs and your forthcoming statements are stemming from the Bible that you believe in, then when making a statement, you are representing the Bible as God's word.
The question that was asked was a controversial one because if the questioner was asking that question in regards to the OT, then the Bible would validate the killing of a homosexual in Jewish culture, but asking a christian that refers to that same Bible, he should not refer to the OT, but the NT where such doling out of said punishment is not the duty of any christian.
Let's face it; the question was geared towards what the christian believe the Bible says about homosexuality; and the question was evidence that it was asked in ignorance of what God would have believers today refer to in His words in represnting Him now.
Homosexuals need the Saviour to save them from their sin of homosexuality just as much as fornicators, adulterers, masturbators, and porn addicts which is like lasciviousness & idolatry combined; when worshipping the creature more than the Creator, feeding lust like brute beasts. Jesus is able to save sinners from their sins so that sin of lust, the infirmity in the flesh, will not have dominion over them. Freedom can be theirs when they call on Jesus Christ to save them from their sins.

Well you don't exactly bring a pastor in to talk about his personal opinion. You can get anybody to do that.
I would say it's hard to confirm your argument though. On the surface, it's seems like you are making a logical leap that if the Bible says something crazy then people will believe it and repeat it. The reality is, not to be anal, but the Bible doesn't say the grass is purple, so it would speculative at best to suggest that people say that, but I understand where you are coming from.
Do you think you can link us to the video if it's online?

I love the Bible. I use to answer others and for my own growth:
2Ti_3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
2Ti 3:17 that the man of God may be fitted--for every good work having been completed.
A lot of people don't like to hear others quoting from the Bible because it does give "reproof" and "correction"

the problem is that to many have thinking for themselves in complete contradiction to the Bible AND to the Spirit of God.
