Same-sex attraction is no different than extra-marital attraction. God calls us to be holy and set-apart from the world. The Son of God, Jesus, came to Earth, became flesh and suffered and died to save us. How do we sound if we cannot resist the physical urgings of our flesh? Can you stand before God and say it was too hard and that you could not refrain from acting on those urges?

The book of Hebrews tells us, "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin." (Heb. 4:15)

The Apostle Paul teaches us that is better to live our lives celibate rather than succumb to temptation and sin. Jesus Himself taught us that is would be better to cut off those body parts that cause us to sin, rather than separate ourselves from our salvation.

There's is nothing sinful about having homosexual thoughts, or homosexual urges, but as a Christian you are not your own, you were bought with a very steep price and we must honor God and His will in our lives. Sexual temptation is not reserved for homosexuals alone, as all people must continually fight to keep themselves blameless and holy before God. We may not always succeed, but that is why God has grace and forgiveness through true repentance.

One day you will hear the words, 'Well done, good and faithful servant' and enter into an eternity with God. There is no greater goal or pleasure than this moment.

God bless!

There is also AIDS out there, no one talks about it anymore but it can still be transmitted. There is no cure, only maintenance and the drugs can be quite high priced.

AIDs is an argument against having *unprotected* sex, whether heterosexual or homosexual. It is also an argument for avoiding blood contact.

amfAR :: Statistics: Women and HIV/AIDS :: The Foundation for AIDS Research :: HIV / AIDS Research

As a non-religious reason to prohibit homosexuality, AIDs fails.

There was ONE and only ONE valid experiment completed that shed light on what causes homosexuality (in men that is; women they're not sure). It strongly suggests that they are born that way. (I can tell you - they are for sure) In chimpanzees (where homosexual males in nature are extremely rare - like 0.05%) they looked at male offspring after pregnancies where the female was put under duress at various times during gestation (PETA would have freaked out). They measured hormones and hormone metabolites during these and normal pregnancies. The results were quite amazing. Male offspring from mothers who were put under duress during the final 6 weeks of gestation had 40X the incidence of homosexual behavior than the control group. The levels of estrogen and even more so, certain estrogenic metabolites were much higher in these mothers. It is surmised that circulating hormones and patterns of hormone metabolism, if altered enough, in the final 6 - 10 weeks in humans may in fact affect the neuronal wiring affecting sexuality. They did not conclude this, but I think nervous mothers are more likely to have gay boys.

A megachurch pastor is in no way an expert on human sexuality - but he does know what fills seats, and he has a basket to fill with tithes. The sooner you realize that, the better off you'll be. Just remember, though, what you do in bed is nobody's business but your own. Keep it to yourself.

Gay men still get AIDS is the point, also non-monogamous people. Get married and be faithful. I was not bringing in religion in this stat.

Yes, very sad stats and sadder still with children born with AIDS. Sexual sins reeks havoc. I know no one wants to talk about sin anymore but here is the consequences of it. God tells us not to sin for our own good, not to take away our happiness.

By the way it was George Bush who sent the most help in Africa's AIDS crisis.

You're right, I was thinking I was reading the other thread, about non-religious reasons to oppose homosexuality.

But actually, my point still works, since the sexual transmission of AIDs is not limited to homosexuals. Yes, gay men do get AIDs. So do straight men and women. (Statistically, gay women have the lowest AIDs rates, so obviously homosexuality does not in itself result in increased AIDs rates.) Anyone having sex runs a risk of sharing disease, from colds to AIDs, regardless of their partner's gender.

Other people in this thread have suggested that the OP's real problem was not necessarily homosexuality but emotionally meaningless or even abusive sex. I think that's at least a serious possibility.
