His comment was completely uncalled and guess what, makes me even less likely to listen to your point of view.
You don't EVER consider anyone else's point of view anyway, from what I've seen. What seems to drive you is that you need to be RIGHT. And yes, his comment was snarky, but it was funny and you set yourself up for it when you introduced incest as comparable to sexual relations between two consenting adults.
Look, get down to brass tacks. You believe without any doubt that things could be any other way that same sex relationships are sinful. Not everyone else does, not even many of us who follow Christ, but you can't meet anyone in the space of that possibility to have a conversation about it without repeating SIN SIN SIN. is that all your faith is based on? What is sin and what is not sin? Because that was not Christ's message, Jeff.
It was about love and about the idea that we who all have flaws can be reconciled to God and pure love. We have to work at, every one of us. It's a lifelong journey.
I have gay Christians in my church. They want to be part of a church community, and they believe in God as we do. We don't focus on what people do sexually anymore than we worry about any of their other personal bodily functions. That is so small and unimportant. We believe that we who decided to follow Jesus are obligated to try to stand up for the outsider and the oppressed, like he did, and so we speak up against those who would single out for hatred people who are not like them. It's been other religions and races in the past; currently, the hatred is mostly directed toward people who have same-sex sexual orientations. There are so many terrible things going on in this world. Even if you do want to hold onto the belief that homosexuality us a sin, how important is that in the grand scheme of things? People killing one another on a large scale, child porn and abuse, poverty, abuse of power and wealth--so much to fight, and you want to concentrate on who does what with their genitalia in their private lives? Does it really make sense? Ask yourself.
Nobody's rejecting the bible. It is a book written by men. It has its value, but it is not Jesus.
Then how do you know what is Jesus? Warm fuzzy feelings? The Bible may have been physically written by men but the words are God breath. The Bible is life. Follow it and you will find life abundantly. Follow the ways of man and you'll find the opposite.

Might ask Pastor Visio.
He says it is not only Okay, but it is very likely people have not read (or even SEEN) the bible and still know Christ..or is the evangelical lying?
