Love concerns itself with the well-being of others, even unto death.

There was a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare and serious disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a "blood transfusion" from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously survived the same disease and had developed the "antibodies" needed to combat the illness. The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. He hesitated only for a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes, I’ll do it, if it will save her."

As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled, as all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew pale - and his smile faded. He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start to die, right away." Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his blood in order to save her. Why do we not wonder, that he was ready to die for his sister!

This story was written by Dan Millman, hope it helps.

Christ came to show us the way!

It means that DewDropInn's answer is the typical worldly reply which as usual not to be found from the lips spoken by Jesus, from the mind of Christ , nor found in anywhere in the truth of God's Word the Bible.

Sorry Jerwade, that doesn't answer my question. How does Jesus' death help me?

Very true.

It did not come from Jesus or the Bible. I thought that up all by myself. Using my God-given imagination and a lot of rapidly firing neurons.

I must object to your terming it "typical" however. Typical? That was typical? Do you know a lot of people who think Jesus morphs? Do you live in a state with liberal marijuana laws?

God says why:
1 Corinthians 1:18 [ Christ Crucified Is God’s Power and Wisdom ]
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing,
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

You asked, how was His dying an action of love?

If you are stranded in the penal substitution theory to appease someones wrath.
Then, you do not know what it means to voluntarily, lay your own life down.

His death should have opened your eye of understanding, not left you in darkness?
