Job 38:7 refers to the "morning stars [singing] together, and all the sons of God [shouting] for joy."

What, according to your understanding, were the morning stars and the sons of God so excited about? And who or what were they all in the first place?

Hmmm. That Old Testament stuff. If you let it, you could go on and on puzzling over the mysteries and weirdities of the OT. It might have been useful at one time, but we moved beyond all of that once Jesus entered the picture.

The Gospels - and the very specific and clear teachings they show - are all that's needed anymore.

I'm so glad I picked up on that once I got away from the church and religion, which still has use for the arcane ways. Need to make excuse for war? Go to the OT. Need to hate certain groups and hope for their annihilation? Go to the OT. Need to lament troubles and make a big show of it? Go to the OT. Need to account for your sins and make penance? Go to the OT with your blood sacrifices. And that's just scratching the surface.

It was the heavenly angels praising God at the creation of the universe.

So, angels and the sons of God are the same thing, in your opinion?

Yes. The angels are called the sons of God because they are the image of God. They exist with Him in heaven above, and serve him as a son does his father.

I think of it as poetry.

But because it is the word of God, I believe it has a deeper meaning than we can fully explain.

So the "sons of God" in this verse means something different than the same verbiage does elsewhere in the Bible?
