They're no In-N-Out Burger, but they're better than the lame fast-food burger options we have around here.

In-N-Out > Jack in the Box > McDonalds > Wendy's > Burger King > Rally's > Hardee's/Carl's Jr. > White Castle

I didn't include Five Guys or Smashburger, since they're a somewhat different niche.

Hm, Is Jack in the Box even any good? I often take trips down to Orlando for business and see many along 75 on the way there, but never got the chance to stop there. I just stopped at places I knew.

I think it's pretty good ... for fast food.

Streetcar project breaks ground
Quote:
OVER-THE-RHINE - After years in the making, the city of Cincinnati broke ground today on the the $110 million street car project.
The event was held at Memorial Hall this afternoon.
The nation’s transportation secretary, Ray LaHood, attended along Mayor Mark Mallory and City Manager Milton Dohoney.
Upon completion, the streetcar will snake 3.6 miles from Riverfront into Over-the-Rhine, connecting the Banks to Findlay Market.
The first phase of construction will include the relocation of water lines in city streets.

And in typical Enquirer fashion, the map provided in the article is wrong. The streetcar extends down to 2nd street.

This article from the Business Courier regarding the Duke issue:

Duke Energy's Cincinnati streetcar stance disputed
Quote:
....
Duke stunned city officials Feb. 8 when the utility announced its gas, electric and chilled water lines must be moved at least 8 feet away from rail lines for the $110 million streetcar project. And Duke said it wouldn’t pay the $18.7 million estimated cost for moving them.
City officials countered that they weren’t convinced an 8-foot separation was necessary. And a Business Courier review of practices in other cities and interviews with streetcar experts found the city appears to be right.

I don't have a subscription to the Business Courier, but some of the quotes included by transportation experts from around the country include:
"Many communities have utilities located much closer to their streetcar rails – with no problems."

"If you went to Europe and talked about the utility thing, they would laugh"

This, plus the fact that apparently Duke has agreed to a 3-foot clearance for the construction of a streetcar in Charlotte further proves that Duke is just blowing hot air.

Dunnhumby documents reveal possible downtown Kroger
Quote:
DOWNTOWN — The city of Cincinnati has opened its books on a pending deal that’s likely to bring 1,000 dunnhumbyUSA workers, 40,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space and up to 1,000 parking spaces to the long-anticipated Fifth and Race development.
It could also bring the central business district its first Kroger grocery store and up to 130 residential units.

This is unbelievably great news for downtown. Only serious downtowns have grocery stores. Honestly, with the streetcar groundbreaking and this news, today couldn't have gone any better. It's time to have a few brews at the bar to celebrate!

A new seafood restaurant called The Anchor is slated for OTR on the corner of Race and 14th in the Washington Park area. According to another forum, the chef used to run a restaurant in New York City.

There are two corner (14th/Race) properties available through 3CDC that are in PRIME locations with regards to music hall and the new Washington Park. Great post, abr7rmj, any links to support that? That's very exciting, it was only a matter of time before somebody scooped those up.

No, it's common knowledge in OTR circles but I don't think anything has been officially announced yet. Apparently the outdoor dining at Anchor (overlooking Washington Park) will be nothing short of dynamic.
