i believe my address on eastwood was 5391 eastwood. a bungalow remember several famalies from swanee trail also...newmans,ritchies,wilkins..... as i browsed pages i see the eastwood circle historical stuff .. is the momper mentioned . gregg... does anyone know(snob stuff) but i remember a party at his house in the circle in or about 1970.... people from manor and childrens home were there

The Momper's are mentioned in the historical register. They were among those who helped close the north side of Eastwood Circle to through traffic. Prior to that, it was pretty common for residents of the Manor to drive through Eastwood Circle to get to or from Madison Road. The Manor was ultimately razed to dust.

as i sift thru the pages i am delighted by the content. when i first got married leroy the mailman had a key shop in madisonville (1977) also in 1983 i bought a home on cambridge ave in madison place which was 2 blocks from where ms. mccartney lived.. visited with bothfor several years

thanks for the historical stuff...guess since i grew up in the manor from age 5 1/2 till 18 plus i never thot of us as the downtrodden masses that some in the circle must have thot. i always thot of the people there as harworking salt of the earth . i know mom and dad were. i even worked for eastwood village as a teen.

another note when i was gonna get married in '77 my future wife and i went there.. it was just in shell form . i walked into a bungalow and thought how much bigger life (and everything ) is when you are young. but it is the home where all my dreams still come from!!!!!!! rite betty?

That's right Jerry.
Did you look at the school pictures on page 31 ? I really think that you are in them.. Did you and Leroy talk about the Manor?? When Jrs' daughter grauated in 90. Leroy came to his house for the family gathering.Jr had seen Leroy, but the rest of us hadn't seen him in over 25yrs. For me and DoBee it was an emotional time.
When Dad passed away in 97 he came to the wake service. There were quite a few kids from the manor too....it was like being kids again and others were asking if he remembered them

Your recollection that decent, regular people lived at Stratford Manor is correct. However, near the end, it fell into disrepair and neglect. From what I can gather, the Manor started to attract a few seedier people. Unfortunately, it always seems like it only takes a few undesirables to get the most unwanted attraction.
I suspect access through Eastwood Circle was closed off at Duck Creek Road mostly to stop the regular flow of cars traveling between the Manor and Madison Road. The object was probably to give the Eastwood Circle houses more of a private and quiet environment.

Did you look at the school pictures on page 31 ? I really think that you are in them.. Did you and Leroy talk about the Manor?? When Jrs' daughter grauated in 90. Leroy came to his house for the family gathering.Jr had seen Leroy, but the rest of us hadn't seen him in over 25yrs. For me and DoBee it was an emotional time.
When Dad passed away in 97 he came to the wake service. There were quite a few kids from the manor too....it was like being kids again and others were asking if he remembered them
