Incredible!

I weep for the future.
Then cry me an ocean.

It's more economical to have multiple forms of transportation. It's not smart to have just one form of transportation, that is based on a depleting resource mainly extracted from foreign territory. Even when it comes to freight, rail is more economical because of the fuel economy. An average freight train has an efficiency of 400 ton-miles per gallon, vs. mack trucks that average 130 ton miles per gallon. Everyone knows that 21st century rail is progressing dramatically... well not everyone I guess. You just keep saying the same old, same old "cars are the only way" "rail doesn't spark development" "rail depletes resources" But it seems like EVERYWHERE and EVERYONE else seems to think different....

...except in Cincinnati. but I'm not suprised.

Think this won't happen in Cincinnati? Talk about whistling past the graveyard ...

Please enlighten us again, streetcar haters ... what is it, exactly, that we can't afford?

The vampire that will never die sits up in its coffin:

Quote:
"And yes, we will (pursue the streetcar) in the face of opposition," he said. "The reality is opposition never built anything. Only optimism builds."

I understand there are some who are pushing for another referendum to be placed before the voters this fall which, if passed, will effectively ban any funds, regardless of their source, from being used to construct any rail project in a public right-of-way. What will the mayor say if the voters pass it?

"I'm not giving up. We're going to find a way to do this project."

Well, you asked.

Mayor Moron. The Mallory Clan are bloodsucking crooks that have had their snout in the trough for generations. It is not a surprise that he won't give up without fight. Guaranteed, some Mallory will be on the payroll or getting some kind of fee from this boondoggle.

Is this real? What are the perceived benefits of this?
