Yes or No? I hear a lot about "separation" form the Union and Commonwealth. I am curious about what Cascadians (aka PNW) think about this. I know in California, the fact that you are California comes before you are American. Is Cascadian ideology similar? Does it exists? I guess this thread is more country vs country as opposed to city vs city :P.

Just some facts..
- Name: The Republic of Cascadia (long form), Cascadia (short form)
- Capital: Cascadia
- Area: 855,762 sq km
- Population: 14,220,981 (2005 est)
- GDP: US$323 billion (1996 est)
- Language: Cascadese (a dialect of English)
- Time System: Metric Time

I picked the "Who? What? Isn't there just tree's there" option. Even though I recognize all those cities, outside of those cities and their area, I wonder what it would be like. Probably a lot of natural lakes, mountains and tree's till the eye can see.

Why wouldn't the capitol be around the major population center situated around Seattle and Vancouver?

So it is tucked safely away from corrupt officials and superficial plastic people.

~Really? Well that's just awful lol.

I have a question. Is the Canadian side included because people over there feel as disconnected from their country as some people in Washington/Oregon feel they are from the US? How much would it hurt Cascadia to lose that whole half of their territory if they couldn't have it?

Also, I voted no, cause I'm not in favor of any of the US breaking away.

Lol it is a sad truth. But I'm proud of my Californianess :P.

I'm not sure i understand your question. But yes, the proposed prefectures are Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia.

Yes the Canadian part counts.

I voted the last option because it sounded funny.

It doesn't really feel like the U.S. out here. I think we'd all be pretty darn happy to be running our own show without interference from those people back east who have no idea what it is like out here and have zero understanding of the issues that affect us, yet still try to manage them through legislating this or that.

I think it's a great idea. California can go there own way too. It'd be awesome.

I didn't know my question sounded so weird lol. I was just wondering, do people in that part of Canada wanna be separate from the rest of it? Do they feel isolated from their government and country too?

Also, if they were independent, would they wanna join with the US Northwest states? Is there that much of a "brotherhood" type relationship over there?

I never really get that argument. Don't you guys send over senators and representatives too? In fact, California sends the most, and Washington isn't so low either (about the same as Mass?). We have to live with what you guys vote on too you know. Would it maybe make things better if we moved the capital to say the Oregon/California borderline? I'd be ok with that.

I think if any states/regions broke off, they'd quickly see that without the whole country pooling together our resources (natural, military, economic) like we do, they wouldn't be so well off. I mean for any place, California, New York, wherever.

Also, what does feel like the US then? California? NYC? New England? The South? I think alot of our strength comes from our diversity.
